Victor Cruz caught 4-of-7 targets for 61 yards in Friday's preseason game.
The catches were his first of the preseason. Cruz did his job for an offense that looked extremely shaky for large chunks of the first half, and has for most of August. Despite the problems around him, however, Cruz should soak up targets and receptions for an offense that wants to be more quick-hitting this season. He's a WR2.
Reggie Bush had two carries for 95 yards and a touchdown in the Lions' third preseason game Friday night.
Bush started and got the first carry of the game, but rotated evenly with Joique Bell. His touchdown came on an impressive double cutback he took down the right sideline from 86 yards out. Bush had just five carries for 10 yards in his first two preseason games. The Lions are likely going to feature a three-back committee with Bush, Bell, and Theo Riddick. Bush currently has an ADP in the late third round.
Darren McFadden rushed three times for five yards and caught one pass for negative-two yards in Friday's preseason game against the Packers.
Kelvin Benjamin hauled in 5-of-6 targets for 47 yards in the Panthers' third preseason game Friday night.
Benjamin was the lone bright-spot for the Panthers' first-team offense. Cam Newton looked his way first on seemingly every pass play, and Benjamin made Carolina's play of the night when he out-muscled Darelle Revis on a quick slant in the second quarter. Benjamin has 8 catches for 117 yards and a touchdown this preseason. He is being drafted at the end of the 8th round.
Matthew Stafford completed 10-of-16 passes for 98 yards and an interception in the Lions' third preseason game Friday night.
The interception was Stafford's first of the preseason. He stared down Calvin Johnson and got baited into a pick in the first quarter, but was able to bounce back from a rough start. Stafford has top-three quarterback upside if he can cut down on his career-high 32 turnovers from last year. He'll finish the preseason 21-of-30 for 204 yards (9.71 YPA) with two touchdowns and one interception.
Maurice Jones-Drew played just one series in Friday's preseason game against the Packers, rushing three times for 45 yards with a touchdown.
Jones-Drew started and got every snap on his only series. He capped it by impressively jump-cutting into a hole, breaking two tackles and then turning on the jets to outrun the defense for a 40-yard score. Jones-Drew, who has 11 carries for 67 yards with one touchdown and three catches for 36 yards this preseason, is locked in as the starter ahead of Darren McFadden. There's a smidge of low-upside value in his seventh-round ADP.
Rueben Randle caught 2-of-4 targets for 41 yards and a touchdown in Friday's regular-season dress rehearsal.
He was a bright spot for the dysfunctional Giants, showing excellent body control on a 26-yard catch near the sideline before running an excellent route on his 15-yard score. Almost certainly done for the preseason, the Giants' only legitimate red-zone threat finishes with three catches for 53 yards and a score. Currently the WR42, Randle is a value pick in fantasy leagues.
Cam Newton completed 8-of-12 passes for 88 yards and added three rushes for 12 yards in the Panthers' third preseason game Friday night.
Newton was forced from the field in the second quarter after an awkward hit from Patriots LB Jamie Collins, but returned one play later. Newton's numbers look respectable, but the offense struggled. Newton was sacked three times in five series, and failed to lead the Panthers' past the New England 40. Newton is 12-of-21 for 153 yards this preseason, and has been sacked five times.
