Ben Zobrist (wrist) ran the bases on Wednesday.

According to Patrick Pinak of MLB.com, Zobrist has "attempted" to hit but still doesn't feel comfortable. "We're not quite there yet," said manager Joe Maddon. "He's tested it regularly. He's still not satisfied." Zobrist landed on the DL with wrist inflammation earlier this month. There's no timetable for his return.

Danny Duffy (oblique) will begin a minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Omaha on Saturday.

Duffy is scheduled to throw 40-45 pitches. He'll need a few starts to get his pitch count back up after missing the last few weeks with a strained oblique. If all goes according to plan, Kansas City's ace should be back around the All-Star break.

Rafael Montero will start Sunday against the Giants.

He's taking Zack Wheeler's spot in the rotation. Montero has struggled as a starter this year, going 0-1 with a 10.80 ERA in his two starts. Even against a struggling Giants team, Montero won't be a recommended streaming option.

Victor Martinez (heart) has been cleared for light workouts.

Martinez spent about 10 minutes on the elliptical and swung off a batting tee on Wednesday. The 38-year-old was hospitalized with an irregular heartbeat last week but is already back on the comeback trail. Martinez has hit .261 with five homers and 29 RBI this season.

Mets manager Terry Collins said the team will consider moving Asdrubal Cabrera (thumb) to second base when he returns from the disabled list.

Cabrera is expected to return on Friday. He's already made 11 errors this year and Collins would prefer to keep Jose Reyes at shortstop. T.J. Rivera has been filling in at second base for Neil Walker, who is out with a torn hamstring. Cabrera has started 197 games at second base in his career, though he hasn't played there since 2014.

George Springer (hand) hopes to be in the lineup Friday against the Mariners.

Springer lobbied to stay in Thursday's game after taking a pitch off his left hand but was overruled by manager A.J. Hinch. His X-rays came back negative and the Astros are hoping he'll be available for Friday night's series opener. The Astros appear to have dodged a major bullet here.

Mets optioned RHP Tyler Pill to Triple-A Las Vegas.

Pill struggled in a spot start Wednesday against the Dodgers, allowing six runs over six innings of work. He could probably benefit from a little more seasoning in the minors.
Jun 22 - 7:40 PM

Mets purchased the contract of RHP Chase Bradford from Triple-A Las Vegas.

Tyler Pill was sent down in the corresponding move. Bradford hasn't been overly impressive this year, contributing a 4.26 ERA with nine saves in 13 opportunities for Vegas. This will be his first stint in the big leagues.
