Matt Holliday is getting the night off Thursday.

Brandon Moss will play left field and bat fifth as the Cardinals stack left-handed bats against Nationals right-hander Joe Ross. Holliday is available off the bench.
May 26 - 3:51 PM

Randal Grichuk is not in the Cardinals' starting lineup Thursday night against the Nationals.

Grichuk registered his third straight multi-hit game on Wednesday, homering and singling in a loss to the Cubs, but the Cardinals will go lefty-heavy on Thursday versus Washington righty Joe Ross. Jeremy Hazelbaker is starting in center field and batting leadoff.
May 26 - 3:49 PM

Reds sent RHP Steve Delabar outright to Triple-A Louisville.

Delabar was pushed off the 40-man roster on May 21 and had option of electing free agency, but he will instead stay with the Reds as organizational relief depth. The right-hander should get another shot at some point this summer if he can find a groove at the Triple-A level. Delabar had a 6.75 ERA, 1.88 WHIP, and 10/10 K/BB ratio in eight innings with Cincinnati prior to the DFA.

Chasen Shreve has been diagnosed with a sprained AC joint in his left shoulder.

Shreve apparently suffered the injury Wednesday while giving up three runs on two homers and a single as the Yankees fell to the Blue Jays. He's already been placed on the 15-day disabled list. It's probably going to be a lengthy absence for the lefty reliever.
May 26 - 3:36 PM

Angels signed C Erik Kratz to a minor league contract.

Kratz was designated for assignment by the Astros on May 16 and subsequently released. The veteran catcher is a .210/.261/.381 career hitter at the big league level. He will report to Triple-A Salt Lake.
May 26 - 3:12 PM

Dustin Pedroia (hamstring) is in the Red Sox starting lineup on Thursday against the Rockies.

Just as he pledged late Wednesday night, after making an early exit with cramping in his right hamstring. Pedroia is batting second for the Red Sox on Thursday night against Colorado right-hander Jon Gray. Jackie Bradley Jr. will take a spin at leadoff with Mookie Betts getting a breather.
May 26 - 3:08 PM

Mookie Betts will take a night off Thursday.

It's his first absence in 88 games dating back to last season. Chris Young will start in right field and Blake Swihart is in left field Thursday versus the Rockies. Jackie Bradley is hitting leadoff against Jon Gray.

Dodgers optioned LHP Luis Avilan to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

This move clears a roster spot for top pitching prospect Julio Urias, who is scheduled to make his major league debut on Friday night at Citi Field. Avilan has allowed three earned runs in one inning (four appearances) this season out of the Los Angeles bullpen.
