Mets manager Mickey Callaway indicated Thursday that Steven Matz will remain in the starting rotation.

"We’re going to get him where he needs to be," Callaway told reporters. Matz allowed seven runs -- three earned -- over just 3 1/3 innings in Wednesday night's loss to the Cardinals and now holds a 4.98 ERA through 21 2/3 total innings (five starts) this season. He's lined up to face the Braves next week, though an off day could allow the Mets to skip his next turn.

Tommy Pham is starting in center field and hitting second on Thursday afternoon against the Mets.

Pham sliced open his forehead on Wednesday night while taking warmup swings with a resistance band, but the cut did not require stitches and he cleared MLB's concussion protocol. The dynamic 30-year-old outfielder is batting .343/.471/.514 with three home runs and five stolen bases through 21 games this season.

Mariners activated 1B Ryon Healy from the 10-day disabled list.

Healy missed a little over two weeks of action with a Grade 2 sprain of his right ankle. The 26-year-old first baseman was off to a brutal start with Seattle even before the injury, slashing just .091/.130/.136.

Mariners optioned 1B Daniel Vogelbach to Triple-A Tacoma.

The move opens a 25-man roster spot for Ryon Healy, who has been activated from the disabled list in a corresponding move. Vogelbach was batting just .204/.317/.352 through 63 plate appearances this season with Seattle.

Asdrubal Cabrera (hamstring) is back in the Mets' starting lineup Thursday against the Cardinals.
