Nationals recalled OF Brian Goodwin from Triple-A Syracuse.

Goodwin -- who was just shuttled back down to Triple-A on Tuesday -- receives the call back to the bigs due to Chris Heisey being placed on the disabled list with a right bicep rupture. In 10 games with the Nats this season, the 26-year-old Goodwin has hit a mere .188/.235/.313. There is no fantasy upside with this move.

Nationals placed OF Chris Heisey on the 10-day disabled list with a right bicep rupture.

Ouch. As of yet, there is no timetable for Heisey's return, but this is one that could potentially cost him a large chunk of the season. In 47 at-bats prior to suffering the injury, the veteran outfielder was slashing just .128/.180/.213. Count this as a depth blow for the Nationals.

Mets activated C Travis d'Arnaud from the 10-day disabled list.

A bone bruise on his right wrist sidelined d'Arnaud in early May. With his activation, he will be available to pinch-hit during Wednesday's game against the Padres -- and is expected to start on Thursday. Prior to going down injured, the backstop was hitting .203/.288/.475 with four homers and 16 RBI across 22 games played.

Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said that Nick Castellanos will receive the next two days off as a "reset."

Castellanos has been having a rough time at the plate over his last three games, failing to pick up a hit in 11 at-bats while striking out six times in that space. Andrew Romine will be starting at third base in his place against the Astros on Wednesday and is hitting seventh.
May 24 - 5:41 PM

Lonnie Chisenhall is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Reds due to what the team has termed a "possible head injury."

With Chisenhall sitting, Daniel Robertson draws the start in right field. Just how long Chisenhall might be out of action is not yet known, but this could just be a precautionary sidelining.
May 24 - 5:36 PM

Mets placed LHP Tommy Milone on the 10-day disabled list with a left knee sprain.

A timetable for Milone's return has not yet been laid out, but should clarify as he moves further away from the initial injury. It is not clear at this juncture when he sustained the knee sprain. In the short term, Josh Smoker or Rafael Montero will be starting in his place against the Pirates on Saturday.
May 24 - 5:32 PM

Travis d'Arnaud (wrist) is expected to be activated from the disabled list prior to Wednesday's game against the Padres.

While Rene Rivera will be drawing the start at catcher on Wednesday, d'Arnaud's imminent activation would make him available as a pinch-hitting option. He is expected to be in the starting lineup for Thursday's series finale vs. the Padres.
May 24 - 5:26 PM

Cole Hamels (oblique) played catch again on Wednesday.

Hamels also played catch on Tuesday, the first time he had thrown the ball since hitting the disabled list with a strained right oblique on July 2. There is still a relatively long road of recovery ahead of him, though, as he is not expected to rejoin the Rangers until some time in early July.
