Dillon Gee allowed nine hits and four runs over five innings in a win over the Rays on Tuesday.

On the plus side, Gee struck out seven compared to just one walk. The win was the second of the year for the right-hander, improving him to 2-2 with a 4.28 ERA and 1.53 WHIP through 11 appearances (four starts). Gee will try to put together a winning streak Sunday at the Indians.

Matt Carpenter feasted on Brewers pitching again Tuesday, going 4-for-5 with a double, two triples, two RBI and four runs scored in the Cardinals' 10-3 drubbing.

All Carpenter has done the past two days is go 8-for-10 with three doubles, two triples, two RBI and seven runs scored. The blistering two games have vaulted him to fifth in the National League in runs scored (36) and eighth in the league in RBI (35). The 30-year-old is hitting .272/.385/.543 on the year.

Brewers optioned RHP David Goforth to Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Goforth was lit up for four earned runs while recording only one out Tuesday night against the Cardinals. He has a 9.39 ERA in 7 2/3 innings this year with Milwaukee.

Jonathan Lucroy went 2-for-3 with a double, home run and two RBI in a loss to the Cardinals on Tuesday.

Lucroy hit a solo dinger off Cards starter Mike Leake in the second inning and collected another RBI on a sacrifice fly in the eighth. The 29-year-old has been on a tear of late, homering three times in his last five games with 11 RBI and four multi-hit games in that stretch. Lucroy is batting a healthy .299/.355/.531 with nine homers, 28 RBI and 28 runs scored overall.

Aledmys Diaz went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored Tuesday against the Brewers.

Diaz has cooled from his torrid start -- it would have been nearly impossible for him not to cool to some extent -- but he's still got hits in six of his last seven games, with seven runs scored in that span. Even after falling off a bit, the 25-year-old is batting .330/.363/.545 with seven homers, 26 RBI and 36 runs scored.

Joe Ross held the Phillies to one run over seven innings of work in Tuesday's 5-1 victory.

Aaron Nola pitched well, but Ross was a bit better. He permitted just three hits and two walks on the night while striking out five, throwing 103 pitches across his seven frames. Ross' strikeouts have been down from his rookie season, as he's punched out a disappointing 46 over 60 2/3 innings. However, he'll carry a 2.37 ERA and 1.15 WHIP into June. Ross gets the White Sox next.

Julio Urias could start Thursday at Wrigley Field.

That would be Kenta Maeda's turn, and Maeda is currently questionable with a swollen right hand. Urias hasn't pitched since his MLB debut last Friday night against the Mets, so he's available. But the Braves at home this weekend would obviously be a much safer matchup than the Cubs for real-life and fantasy purposes. Urias was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday night with Alex Wood (elbow) landing on the disabled list.

Jedd Gyorko went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run in a win over the Brewers on Tuesday.

The homer, off Brewers reliever David Goforth in the eighth inning, was Gyorko's sixth of the season. The infielder has been utilized in a part-time role this season, batting .245/.325/.451 with those six homers, 16 RBI and 15 runs scored through 38 games.
