Browns released NT Phil Taylor.

The player the Browns got after deciding to trade down and pass on Julio Jones in 2011, Taylor never emerged as more than a run-plugging specialist. He was limited to just five games last season after undergoing a knee scope. Taylor is still a viable NFLer, so it's a bit of a surprising move. He leaves behind a $5.477 million cap hit. Taylor should latch on elsewhere relatively quickly.

Bucs rookie WR Kenny Bell is dealing with a hamstring injury.

Bell has been sidelined since Friday. Bell expressed optimism about testing the hamstring out in practice on Tuesday, but coach Lovie Smith shot it down, saying "You don't come back from hamstring injuries that quick." A fifth-rounder out of Nebraska, Bell is battling Louis Murphy for snaps behind Mike Evans and Vincent Jackson.

Chiefs waived WR Junior Hemingway.

A 2012 seventh-round pick, Hemingway was never able to establish himself in Kansas City's underwhelming receiver corps. He recorded 25 catches across 31 games in three years with the Chiefs. Kansas City also waived OL Tavon Rooks, placed QB Tyler Bray on the reserve/NFI list and placed LB Justin March on injured reserve.

Falcons waived G/C Peter Konz with an injury settlement.

The No. 55 overall pick of the 2012, Konz was highly ineffective his first two years on the job before tearing his ACL last October. He still isn't back to 100 percent health. He's just one of GM Thomas Dimitroff's legion draft misses. Dimitroff no longer has final say over the Falcons' draft board. Konz is only 25, but teams won't be lining up to give him a second chance.

Chargers waived/injured WR Torrence Allen, CB Chris Davis, S Gordon Hill and OG Melvin Meggs.

All four players should pass through waivers unclaimed, and revert to injured reserve.

Third-round G/T Jamon Brown will be the Rams' starting left guard.

Brown was initially penciled in at right guard, but has settled in on the left side. Rodger Saffold will man the right. The Rams reportedly believe Brown can be a "dominant run blocker."
Sep 1 - 3:51 PM

Rodger Saffold will be the Rams' right guard this season.

It means third-rounder Jamon Brown has earned left guard duties. Saffold spent the majority of 2014 at left guard, but has spent plenty of time on the right side.
Sep 1 - 3:50 PM

Case Keenum will be the Rams' No. 2 quarterback.

Keenum has beaten out Austin Davis for the right to back up Nick Foles. With the Rams using (wasting?) a third-round pick on Sean Mannion, Davis will probably be waived. Keenum has some raw playmaking ability, but is prone to streaks of wildness/total ineffectiveness. He's a second-tier backup.
