Wilson Ramos (knee) will catch live batting practice on Monday and Thursday of next week at the Rays' spring training complex.

Ramos had said that he was hoping to begin a rehab assignment before the end of May, but clearly that's not going to happen. His workouts are going well, though, so him being cleared for game action doesn't appear to be far off. It's possible he could be ready for designated hitter duty with the Rays sometime next month.

Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle writes that the Giants optioning Christian Arroyo back to Triple-A Sacramento "seems to be on the table."

Arroyo is 6-for-49 with 12 strikeouts in his past 13 games, dropping his batting line with the Giants to .191/.242/.304 across 115 at-bats. The youngster has popped three homers and played well defensively, but the Giants have to make room for Aaron Hill (forearm) and Conor Gillaspie (back) soon and the move that might make the most sense is sending Arroyo back to the minors for more seasoning. The picture could change if Eduardo Nunez's hamstring injury is worse than expected, but right now the hope is that he'll be ready to play Friday.

Tom Murphy (wrist) could begin a rehab assignment as soon as next week.

Murphy's recovery from a hairline fracture in his right forearm and wrist has come along more slowly than expected, but obviously he's made nice progress of late. Considering how long he's been sidelined, Murphy's rehab assignment figures to be a pretty lengthy one. Still, he's a guy worth stashing now if he was dropped in your league.

Jon Gray (foot) hopes to throw a bullpen session this weekend without wearing a walking boot.

He's been throwing bullpen sessions while wearing the boot but is aiming to ditch it this weekend. Gray will require at least three rehab starts before rejoining the Rockies' rotation, so it's going to be a while. Manager Bud Black indicated earlier this week that he expected Gray back in three weeks, so a mid-June return looks like the best-case scenario.

White Sox pitching prospect Lucas Giolito threw a seven-inning no-hitter for Triple-A Charlotte on Thursday.

It was the first game of a doubleheader against Syracuse. Giolito issued three walks on the day and also recorded three strikeouts. It was a much-needed gem from the big righty, as Giolito entered the day with a 6.41 ERA and 22 walks over 39 1/3 innings.

Hanley Ramirez has resumed taking ground balls at first base in pre-game workouts again.

Ramirez had a setback with his nagging right shoulder issue earlier this month when he started a game at first base in an interleague series, but he's ready to test things out again. However, there's no timetable for when he might play first in a game and the Red Sox now have another right-handed hitting option at the position in Sam Travis, so they won't rush Ramirez.

A.J. Pollock (groin) was scheduled to "throw and hit and do some live running" at the Diamondbacks' spring training complex on Thursday, according to manager Torey Lovullo.

Pollock looks to be making nice progress as he works his way back from a right groin strain. He will not require a rehab assignment before returning and could potentially be activated sometime next week, although a firm timetable hasn't been established.

Taijuan Walker (blister) will throw a bullpen session Saturday.

It will be his first time testing out the blister on his right index finger since he was placed on the disabled list last weekend. If all goes well, Walker will rejoin the Diamondbacks' rotation next weekend against the Marlins. "The blister feels good," Walker said. "It’s not bad. It still needs to heal a little bit more, but we’re going to take care of it. It should be good."
