Astros shortstop prospect Carlos Correa went 3-for-3 with a double, a triple, and walk on Saturday for High-A Lancaster.

After a pair of hitless games, Correa had a big game on Saturday and lifted is season slash line to .281/.338/.469. He has six walks and nine strikeouts on the season, displaying his advanced batting eye and hand control. The Astros are going slowly with the former #1 overall pick, so he may not see time in Double-A until 2015.

Tigers released SS Alex Gonzalez.

Well, that didn't last long. Desperate for a replacement for Jose Iglesias, the Tigers traded Steve Lombardozzi for Gonzalez in a late-spring deal. The veteran infielder wound up lasting just three weeks, as he hit just .167/.219/.233 while showing diminished range in the field. The Tigers will go with Andrew Romine and Danny Worth at shortstop.

Indians outfield prospect Clint Frazier with 2-for-4 with a strikeout on Saturday for Low-A Lake County.

Frazier is hitting .308/.286/.385 with one double and one strikeout through his first three games in 2014. Frazier needs a substantial amount of development, so he will likely move slowly through the minor leagues.

Evan Gattis is not in the Braves' lineup Sunday.

He's getting a breather while Gerald Laird catches David Hale. Gattis is hitless in his last nine at-bats after going 9-for-13 with three homers in the three games prior.
Apr 20 - 10:27 AM

Yan Gomes is not in the Indians' lineup Sunday.

It's just a routine day off. Carlos Santana is catching Carlos Carrasco, with Lonnie Chisenhall filling in at third base.
Apr 20 - 10:25 AM

Pedro Alvarez is not in the Pirates' lineup Sunday.

It appears to just be a day of rest. Josh Harrison is taking Alvarez's spot at third base. Russell Martin is also getting a breather, with Chris Stewart handling the catching duties.
Apr 20 - 10:23 AM

Braves second base prospect Tommy La Stella went 3-for-4 with a walk for Triple-A Gwinnett on Saturday, and is hitting .295/.370/.318 for the season

With Dan Uggla hitting .237/.281/.390 for Atlanta, La Stella will remain in Triple-A until Uggla's OPS dips below .650. The 25-year old second baseman is not likely to become an elite player, but he could do much better than Uggla (who still has one year and $13 million left on his contract).
Apr 20 - 10:21 AM

Yankees placed RHP Ivan Nova on the 15-day disabled list with a partially torn ulnar collateral ligament.

Nova hasn't decided whether he'll rest and rehab or undergo Tommy John surgery, but the latter is probably an inevitability. It's a tough blow for the Yankees' rotation, as Nova showed glimpses of a potential breakout last season. The Yankees will likely use Vidal Nuno as his rotation replacement for now.
