Salvador Perez has been diagnosed with a deep right hip bruise and is considered day-to-day.

Perez suffered the injury Monday when he ran into a railing near the Astros' dugout while trying to track down a foul ball. He is not in the Royals' starting lineup on Tuesday night but should be fine in a few days.

Blue Jays' top prospect Aaron Sanchez was placed on the 7-day minor league disabled on Monday.

Sanchez was pulled from his May 18 start due to low velocity, but there's no word yet if the right-hander suffered an injury or is merely going through a "dead arm" period. Ranked by Baseball America as the Blue Jays' top prospect and No. 65 overall prospect, Sanchez has registered a 3.16 ERA and 0.96 WHIP with 37/16 K/BB in 42 2/3 innings this season for High-A Dunedin (of the Florida State League).

Orioles activated RHP Miguel Gonzalez from the 15-day disabled list.

Gonzalez will return to the Orioles' starting rotation on Tuesday against the Yankees after missing the past two-plus weeks with a blister on his right thumb. He's not a fantasy option outside deep AL-only leagues.
May 21 - 3:55 PM

Orioles optioned RHP Jair Jurrjens to Triple-A Norfolk.

Jurrjens allowed four earned runs over five innings Saturday in a spot start against the Rays. The 27-year-old right-hander will probably get another shot soon.

Jose Molina (hamstring) is not in the Rays' starting lineup on Tuesday night against the Blue Jays.

Molina hasn't played since Saturday because of a tight left hamstring. It's not thought to be a serious injury.

Ichiro Suzuki is not in the Yankees' starting lineup on Tuesday night against the Orioles.

Curtis Granderson is starting in right field, Brett Gardner is in center and Vernon Wells is in left. At the moment, this is the Yankees' best bet for run production. Ichiro is hitting just .241/.280/.333 in 39 games.
May 21 - 3:40 PM

Ryan Howard (knee) is back in the Phillies' starting lineup on Tuesday night.

Howard sat out Sunday and Monday due to a sore left knee, but a cortisone shot has apparently done the job. Still, the situation warrants monitoring.
May 21 - 3:27 PM

Rickie Weeks is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Dodgers.

Just a day off for the struggling Weeks. Jeff Bianchi will start at second base and bat eighth against Zack Greinke.
