Rays recalled RHP Austin Pruitt from Triple-A Durham.

He'll replace the injured Jonny Venters (hamstring) on the active roster. Pruitt has posted a 4.24 ERA and 30/10 K/BB ratio over 51 innings in a long relief role this season.

Orioles activated INF Tim Beckham from the 60-day disabled list.

Beckham missed two months following core muscle surgery. He'll make his return in Monday's game against the Mariners, batting eighth and playing third base. He was batting just .179/.247/.262 over his first 23 games prior to the injury.
Jun 25 - 3:09 PM

Rays placed LHP Jonny Venters on the 10-day disabled list with a right hamstring strain.

Austin Pruitt will take his spot on the active roster. Venters suffered the injury during Sunday's game. The southpaw has put up a 3.95 ERA over 21 appearances this year after a lengthy absence from MLB due to injury.

Matt Ehalt of the Bergen Record reports that Brandon Nimmo (finger) "avoided a significant injury."

That sounds good, but we're not sure what it means just yet. X-rays came back negative after Nimmo was hit in the right pinkie finger by a pitch on Sunday, but he was scheduled for an MRI on Monday. The Mets should pass along more information soon.

Daniel Robertson will make his first start in left field Monday against the Nationals.

The Rays are getting creative with Adeiny Hechavarria back from the disabled list and Willy Adames staying in the majors. A trade of Hechavarria still appears likely, so the logjam might break up before long, but Robertson will function in a utility role for now.

White Sox sent OF Trayce Thompson outright to Triple-A Charlotte.

Thompson cleared waivers after being designated for assignment late last week. The 27-year-old will stick around as organizational depth.
Jun 25 - 2:15 PM

Pirates released RHP Johnny Hellweg.

The Pirates gave him his release so that he can seek an opportunity to pitch in Japan. Hellweg, 29, posted a 1.33 ERA and 25/13 K/BB ratio over 27 innings with the Pirates' Triple-A affiliate. He hasn't pitched in the majors since 2013.
Jun 25 - 2:02 PM

Daniel Mengden will go for an MRI on his right foot on Monday.

Mengden left Saturday's start against the White Sox after just two innings due to a right foot sprain. He hasn't been placed on the disabled list just yet, but more should be know after Monday's exam.
