Mets manager Terry Collins said Sunday that Lucas Duda (oblique) is scheduled to begin hitting off a tee this week.

If all goes well, he'll advance to taking live batting practice the following week. The 29-year-old slugger has been dealing with a minor oblique issue for the past month or so and the team being sure to be cautious in his recovery. Duda is coming off a breakout season where he slashed .253/.349/.481 with 30 homers and 92 RBI in 153 games.

Yoenis Cespedes said through his interpreter on Sunday that he's very comfortable with his new organization and is open to discussing a long-term extension.

Cespedes stated, "I would like to be in a Tigers uniform for a lot of years. This is a good team now and will be for a lot of years to come." The 29-year-old outfielder, who arrived in December's deal that sent Rick Porcello to the Red Sox, is set to hit free agency after the 2015 season.

Rangers signed RHP Mark Rogers to a minor league contract.

Rogers, 29, spent most of last season in independent ball, posting a 4.17 ERA and ugly 44/59 K/BB ratio over 86 1/3 innings for the Lancaster Barnstormers. The former top prospect hasn't appeared in the majors since 2012 and has a history of shoulder issues.
Mar 1 - 3:25 PM

Sergio Romo (shoulder) threw a bullpen session Sunday with no issues.

He's had some soreness in his pitching shoulder early on in camp, but Giants manager Bruce Bochy said the reliever was "letting it go" Sunday with no problems. Romo is slated to serve as the club's setup man in 2015.
Mar 1 - 3:04 PM

Addison Reed (shoulder) is 2-2 1/2 weeks away from throwing off a mound.

Reed has battled some shoulder soreness at the beginning of camp but says it's now completely gone. While the closer is a couple weeks behind his normal schedule, he remains on track to be ready for Opening Day, barring any setbacks. If he should experience a bump in the road and need a disabled list stint, Brad Ziegler would likely fill in at closer. Reed put up a 4.25 ERA and 69/15 K/BB ratio over 59 1/3 innings for the Diamondbacks last season.
Mar 1 - 2:39 PM

Jimmy Nelson (hamstring) threw a bullpen session Sunday with no issues.

Nelson was held back from throwing for a few days due to a balky hamstring, but he's back on track now. The young right-hander is slated to open the season as the Brewers' No. 5 starter.
Mar 1 - 2:26 PM

Mike Bolsinger was scratched from throwing live batting practice on Sunday due to some leg tightness.

He should be fine in a day or two. Acquired from the Diamondbacks over the offseason, Bolsinger is a long shot to crack the Dodgers' Opening Day roster.
Mar 1 - 2:18 PM

Randal Grichuk (back) took swings off a tee and off soft toss on Sunday.

He expects to go through a full workout on Monday. Grichuk rested for a couple days due to lower back soreness, but it was never considered to be a big deal.
