Kendrys Morales went 2-for-5 with a home run, three RBI and a run scored in Tuesday's win over the Rays.

Morales connected on a Brad Boxberger pitch in the sixth inning for a two-run shot, his sixth of the season. The multi-hit game was his first since May 14 as it's been a trying year for the 32-year-old, who's hitting just .193/.262/.330 through the season's first two months.

Eric Hosmer finished 3-for-5 with a double, two RBI and two runs scored in a win over the Rays on Tuesday.

Hosmer continues to punish the baseball, as he's now recorded five consecutive multi-hit games. In those games, the first baseman is 13-for-22 with three doubles, two home runs, six runs scored and 12 RBI. That's good. So is his .330/.376/.553 line overall.

Drew Smyly was under siege Tuesday, allowing eight runs on 12 hits over four innings in a loss to the Royals.

Smyly allowed two runs in the first inning and one in the third before the Royals struck for five more in the fourth. The start was the second subpar showing in a row for the southpaw, who has seen his ERA inflate from 3.54 to 4.77 in that span. There was some amount of luck in his early-season success, but this feels like an overcorrection. Smyly will look to bounce back Sunday at the Twins.

Brewers activated LHP Will Smith from the 15-day disabled list.

Smith will join the Milwaukee bullpen on Wednesday after missing the first two months of the season with a torn LCL in his right knee. He was in a battle for closer duties with Jeremy Jeffress leading into spring training and that makes him a worthy stash in deep fantasy leagues, though Jeffress has pitched very well. Smith allowed just a hit and no walks while striking out five during his four-inning minor league rehab assignment.

Dillon Gee allowed nine hits and four runs over five innings in a win over the Rays on Tuesday.

On the plus side, Gee struck out seven compared to just one walk. The win was the second of the year for the right-hander, improving him to 2-2 with a 4.28 ERA and 1.53 WHIP through 11 appearances (four starts). Gee will try to put together a winning streak Sunday at the Indians.

Matt Carpenter feasted on Brewers pitching again Tuesday, going 4-for-5 with a double, two triples, two RBI and four runs scored in the Cardinals' 10-3 drubbing.

All Carpenter has done the past two days is go 8-for-10 with three doubles, two triples, two RBI and seven runs scored. The blistering two games have vaulted him to fifth in the National League in runs scored (36) and eighth in the league in RBI (35). The 30-year-old is hitting .272/.385/.543 on the year.

Brewers optioned RHP David Goforth to Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Goforth was lit up for four earned runs while recording only one out Tuesday night against the Cardinals. He has a 9.39 ERA in 7 2/3 innings this year with Milwaukee.

Jonathan Lucroy went 2-for-3 with a double, home run and two RBI in a loss to the Cardinals on Tuesday.

Lucroy hit a solo dinger off Cards starter Mike Leake in the second inning and collected another RBI on a sacrifice fly in the eighth. The 29-year-old has been on a tear of late, homering three times in his last five games with 11 RBI and four multi-hit games in that stretch. Lucroy is batting a healthy .299/.355/.531 with nine homers, 28 RBI and 28 runs scored overall.
