The Miami Herald reports the Dolphins were high on Wisconsin coach Bret Bielema before hiring Joe Philbin in 2012, but the sides disagreed on whether Russell Wilson could be an NFL starting quarterback.

This is an amazing story, and it's a slow news week ahead of the Super Bowl, so we'll shout it out. Per ace beat writer Armando Salguero, Dolphins owner Stephen was high on Bielema for the head-coaching job, but Bielema and the personnel department led by ex-GM Jeff Ireland hit a wall when Bielema suggested the Dolphins take Wilson in the second round of the 2012 draft. Bielema allegedly even promised the Dolphins a Super Bowl within five years if they take Wilson, who was Bielema's quarterback at Wisconsin. Bielema pulled out of the running for the job over "personnel issues," and the rest is history. Ireland took Ryan Tannehill with the No. 8 overall pick, and Wilson went to Seattle in the third round. The Dolphins remain doormats, while Wilson is going to back-to-back Super Bowls.

LeGarrette Blount had his marijuana charges withdrawn after he completed 50 hours of community service.

Blount and Le'Veon Bell were arrested in August and popped with pot charges. Blount had until February 4 to complete his court-mandated community service. With the case now resolved, the league can step in and take action against Blount. It's possible he and Bell receive a fine or short suspension in 2015.

ESPN Chicago's Michael C. Wright writes that "nobody knows" whether Brandon Marshall will be back with the Bears in 2015.

The Bears signed Marshall to a new four-year, $39 million deal last May, but the regime that handed him that extension is gone. Marshall is still a fine player and worth the money, but there's some question whether he'll be able to coexist with Chicago's new staff. OC Adam Gase was the Broncos' WRs coach when Mike Shanahan banished Marshall from Denver. Marshall also had a 2014 falling out with Jay Cutler. Per the website OverTheCap.com, the Bears could save $3.95 million in cap space by cutting Marshall this offseason.

Saints RE Junior Galette's initial court date is set for February 26.

Galette was arrested on domestic violence and simple battery charges earlier this month. The woman accuses Galette and his cousin of "jumping" her at Galette's place in Kenner, Louisiana. Galette could be facing a six-game suspension.

Bears RE Jared Allen has a $12.5 million cap number for 2015.

It's fully guaranteed, too, so the Bears would take on a $12.5 million dead money hit if they were to release Allen. The Bears are expected to switch to a 3-4 defense under new DC Vic Fangio. Allen expressed some concern about the change, but believes he'll be a pure edge rusher at outside linebacker. He did admit that, if he had his choice, Allen would prefer to be a 4-3 right end.

Seahawks FS Earl Thomas (shoulder) is practicing in full for Super Bowl XLIX.

Thomas' status was never in doubt, but this confirms he'll be ready to rock against the Patriots.

Seahawks RT Justin Britt (knee) is practicing in full for Super Bowl XLIX.

Britt sat out the NFC Championship Game, but coach Pete Carroll said it was precautionary. A second-round rookie, Britt struggled mightily during the regular season, but played every snap.

Patriots C Bryan Stork (knee) has remained limited in practice.

Most signs have pointed toward Stork being ready to go for Super Bowl XLIX, but this being the Patriots, we might not get official word until inactives are announced at roughly 5ET on Sunday. Stork's presence will be key with the Pats likely looking to get their power-run game going.
