Brewers RHP prospect Jorge Lopez scattered six hits over eight shutout innings Saturday in a win for Double-A Biloxi.

Lopez has been on fire lately, winning three of his last four with a 2.45 ERA. He's near the top of the league leaders in almost every pitching category including wins (second), strikeouts (third), ERA (fourth) and WHIP (fifth). The 22-year-old should be in line for a promotion in the very near future.

Mets placed OF Kirk Nieuwenhuis on the 15-day disabled list due to a pinched nerve in his back.

In a corresponding move, Michael Conforto has been recalled from Triple-A. In 54 games between the Mets and Angels this season, Nieuwenhuis is hitting just .188/.261/.356 with three homers and 13 RBI.

Orioles recalled RHP Tyler Wilson from Triple-A Norfolk.

He'll draw a spot start for the Orioles on Monday against the Athletics in Oakand. The 25-year-old hurler has appeared in five games for the O's this season, compiling a 2.12 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 4/3 K/BB ratio in 17 innings. He doesn't make for a very attractive streaming option in mixed leagues.

Charlie Morton got the win on Sunday after delivering seven scoreless innings against the Reds.

Morton scattered five hits, didn't issue a walk, and struck out seven in the effort, which featured both benches emptying. The right-hander needed the start, as he had struggled in his previous three outings. He's currently sitting on a 4.19 ERA, a 1.28 WHIP, and a 48/24 K/BB ratio over 77 1/3 innings. Morton starts at home against the Dodgers next.

Alexi Amarista went 2-for-4 with a triple and a game-tying two-run home run in the ninth inning of Sunday's loss to the Marlins.

Amarista's triple is notable for the fact that it was the only extra-base hit allowed by Marlins starter Jose Fernandez. After Fernandez left the game, the Padres looked dead in the water until the ninth inning, when Amarista struck like lightning, belting a two-run homer off reliever A.J. Ramos with one out to tie the proceedings at two-all. The big offensive showing is all the more surprising for the fact that Amarista was dealing with an 0-for-24 skid prior to his triple. He's batting just .201/.267/.293 with three home runs and 23 RBI this season.

Angels sent RHP Jeremy McBryde outright to Triple-A Salt Lake.

McBryde was designated for assignment earlier in the week to make room on the 40-man roster for David DeJesus. He passed through waivers unclaimed and will continue to provide bullpen depth in the minor leagues for the Angels.

Jose Fernandez was almost unhittable in Saturday's 5-2 win over the Padres, striking out 10 and throwing six innings of shutout baseball.

Fernandez allowed just four hits. The only one that went for extra bases was an Alexi Amarista triple. Amarista would not come around to score, as Fernandez was having none of that. The 10 strikeouts were one off of his season high, which he set two starts ago against the Diamondbacks. Despite Sunday's brilliance, he came away with a no-decision, as the Marlins wouldn't seal the win until the bottom of the ninth inning. Since returning from the disabled list in early July, Fernandez is 5-0 with a 2.13 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 47/9 K/BB ratio across 38 innings. He'll take to the road against the Braves as he tries to keep this run going.
