Mariners activated 1B Justin Smoak from the 15-day disabled list.

Smoak wound up missing a little under three weeks with a right oblique strain. He did not hit the ball well on his rehab assignment and will return to a .240/.350/.344 batting line. The 26-year-old first baseman remains a poor option in standard fantasy leagues.

Mariners optioned INF Alex Liddi to Triple-A Tacoma.

The move opens up a 25-man roster for Justin Smoak's return from the 15-day disabled list. Liddi went 1-for-17 with seven strikeouts during his time in Seattle.

Joakim Soria (elbow, pectoral) will begin a rehab assignment on Thursday with Double-A Frisco.

Soria has thrown multiple bullpen sessions and rounds of live batting practice this month, reporting no issues with his surgically-repaired elbow. He could join the Rangers' bullpen by the end of this month.

Diamondbacks recalled RHP Randall Delgado from Triple-A Reno.

Delgado is starting for the Snakes on Tuesday night against the Marlins. He has a troubling 5.91 ERA and 57/35 K/BB ratio in 64 innings this season at the Triple-A level and can't be trusted in standard fantasy leagues.
Jun 18 - 5:18 PM

Diamondbacks optioned RHP Charles Brewer to Triple-A Reno.

Brewer threw 3 2/3 scoreless innings of relief during his week-long stay in the major leagues. The right-hander will likely get another look in the coming months.

J.A. Happ (head) threw a bullpen session Tuesday.

Another step in the right direction for the left-handed starter, who suffered a sprained right knee when he collapsed on the mound after being in the head by a line drive last month. He should be ready to return to live major league games in early-to-mid July.

Donovan Tate has reported to the Padres' spring training complex in Arizona.

Tate did not show up to camp this past February due to what was described as a personal issue, but he was apparently keeping in contact with the Padres this entire time and has now been allowed back into the organization. "I left baseball in order to gain a grasp on some personal issues in my life," the former third overall pick wrote in a statement to the media on Tuesday.
Jun 18 - 5:11 PM

Alex Wood left his start Tuesday against the Mets because of a split callous on his left index finger.

Wood allowed one earned run in three innings before exiting. It was only a spot start, and the young southpaw will likely be sent back to the Double-A level soon.
