Jan 23 - 5:49 PM

No big names here. All seven were on the Packers' practice squad this past season.

The Redskins will continue to use a 3-4 base scheme under new DC Greg Manusky.

Manusky has experience in both 3-4 and 4-3 defenses but will stand pat with the scheme used under last year's DC Joe Barry. ESPN's John Keim notes that the Redskins only used their base defense on about 20-30 percent of their snaps last year. The rest of the time they opted for a four-man front as part of a nickel package. In addition to promoting Manusky, the Redskins also added former 49ers coach Jim Tomsula to their staff as a defensive line coach.

Eagles hired Mike Groh as WRs coach.

He's replacing Greg Lewis, who was fired shortly after the 2016 season. Groh will have his work cut out for him trying to salvage one of the league's worst receiving groups. This will be Groh's third stint as an NFL WRs coach after previous stops in Chicago and Los Angeles.

ESPN's Alden Gonzalez considers impending free agent DeSean Jackson a "natural fit" for the Rams.

Jackson grew up in Los Angeles and the Rams just hired his former offensive coordinator Sean McVay as head coach. Meanwhile the Rams are looking for a top wideout to replace Kenny Britt, who is expected to sign elsewhere in free agency. Alshon Jeffery, Terrelle Pryor, Pierre Garcon and Kenny Stills are a few of the other big-name wideouts slated to hit the open market this offseason.

Ladarius Green said he isn't considering retirement.

"Frustrating season but everybody has one," said Green after Pittsburgh's season-ending loss to New England in the AFC Championship Game. "I'm going to go train as soon as I get home, and hopefully next season works out a lot better." Green is probably understating it by calling his first year in Pittsburgh a disappointment. He sat out the season's first nine games while recovering from offseason ankle surgery and later missed five more games after suffering a concussion in Week 15. The Steelers could certainly use another receiving threat to pair with Antonio Brown, but trusting Green to stay healthy is a fool's errand at this point.

Falcons coach Dan Quinn said OC Kyle Shanahan will be free to interview for the 49ers' head-coaching vacancy on Saturday.

Shanahan's second interview with the Niners keeps getting pushed back because the Falcons keep on winning. The Falcons will have a normal week of practice before traveling to Houston on Sunday, leaving Shanahan free to interview on Saturday. The Niners' head-coaching job is Shanahan's to lose after most of the other candidates dropped out including Seahawks OL coach Tom Cable and Patriots OC Josh McDaniels.

Impending free agent DB Micah Hyde said he'd welcome a return to Green Bay.

"I'd love to," said Hyde when asked if he's consider re-signing with the Packers this offseason. "This place is the best place for me, but at the end of the day, it has to be business decisions and it’s kind of out of my control." Hyde began the year at strong safety before settling in at slot corner. The 26-year-old matched a career-high with three interceptions this season. He's one of several Packers headed for free agency including Don Barclay, Jared Cook, Eddie Lacy, Christine Michael, Julius Peppers and Nick Perry.
