Mariners optioned INF/OF Mike Freeman to Triple-A Tacoma.
The corresponding move will come prior to Tuesday's game when Jean Segura (hamstring) returns from the disabled list. Freeman had just two hits in 18 at-bats with the big club, although he did homer.
C.J. Cron is absent from the Angels' lineup Monday.
The Halos are going with Jefry Marte at first base. Cron's batting line is down to .208/.259/.226 for the season and he's yet to homer. With Luis Valbuena (hamstring) due back soon, Cron could really see his playing time slashed.
Major League Baseball has suspended Miguel Sano one game for his involvement in an altercation during Saturday's game versus the Tigers.
Sano took exception to a Matt Boyd pitch that went behind him and then gave a hard shove to James McCann after the catcher intervened. The Twins' third baseman is in Monday's lineup and will continue to play until his appeal is heard.
Diamondbacks recalled RHP Silvino Bracho from Triple-A Reno.
Bracho hadn't allowed an earned run and boasted a 12/1 K/BB ratio in his first 6 2/3 relief innings for Reno. He'll work in the middle of games.
Diamondbacks placed RHP Shelby Miller on the 10-day disabled list with right elbow inflammation.
The injury that forced him from Sunday's start had been described as forearm tightness. That the D'Backs are saying it's merely inflammation would seem to be an encouraging sign, although they've yet to offer any more details. The club also hasn't said who will take Miller's spot in the rotation, but Archie Bradley is an obvious candidate.
A.J. Griffin (ankle) will throw a light bullpen session Monday.
He could throw another one Wednesday. Working his way back from gout in his left ankle, Griffin is eligible to return on Friday against the Angels and seems likely to start then assuming all goes well.
Paul Goldschmidt is absent from the Diamondbacks' lineup Monday.
It's Goldschmidt's first day off of the season. The D'Backs are going with Chris Herrmann in his place at first base.
Ian Desmond (hand) took batting practice on Monday.
It's the first time he's taken BP on the field since he suffered a fracture in his left hand in mid-March. The Rockies haven't said when Desmond would begin a rehab assignment, but it should be just right around the corner. A return in early May is looking likely.
