Rangers activated Neftali Feliz (side) from the 15-day disabled list.

He's been out with a side injury since May 19. Feliz struggled in his rehab at Triple-A Round Rock, recording a dismal 7.36 ERA over 11 innings of work. The 27-year-old began the year at closer but now he'll transition to a setup role behind ninth-inning man Shawn Tolleson.

Cody Allen struck out all three batters he faced and notched his 15th save of teh season in Thursday's 5-4, 10-inning win over the Rays.

After a solo homer by Mike Aviles in the top of the 10th inning put the Indians ahead 5-4, Allen entered and shut down the Rays without issue. He's been fanning batters at a fantastic clip this season and holds a 55/15 K/BB ratio over 34 innings. His 3.44 ERA is higher than you'd like for a closer, but he's 15-for-16 in save chances nonetheless.
Jul 2 - 3:40 PM

Kevin Kiermaier went 1-for-5 with a double in Thursday's loss to the Indians.

The double was Kiermaier's 16th of the season and snapped an 0-for-13 skid. He also struck out just once, in a game where Indian pitching fanned 19 batters. Kiermaier's hitting .251/.285/.408 with four homers and 15 RBI this season. Of late, he's complained of general soreness and lethargy, so it's possible he'll see a few more rest days in the coming weeks.

Rays optioned RHP Preston Guilmet to Triple-A Durham.

The Rays needed to make room for James Loney, who will be activated from the disabled list on Friday. Guilmet recorded four outs against Cleveland on Wednesday. He's spent most of the season bouncing back and forth between Tampa Bay and Durham.
Jul 2 - 3:33 PM

Grady Sizemore went 2-for-4 with two RBI in Thursday's loss to the Indians.

Facing off against his former team, Sizemore punched in runs with a pair of RBI singles in the first and sixth innings. He was released from the Phillies last month after hitting .245/.288/.296 with zero homers and six RBI in 104 plate appearances. Sizemore's picked up six hits since June 28 (when the Rays acquired him), but there's little reason to expect much fantasy juice here.
Jul 2 - 3:28 PM

Corey Kluber fanned 14 and allowed four runs (three earned) to the Rays over eight innings in earning a no-decision on Thursday.

Kluber scattered seven hits and walked just one in the contest. The Rays dinged him for two runs in the first inning and two in the sixth, but he otherwise managed to keep the scoreboard clean. Despite his brilliance across eight innings, the score remained tied at 4-4 after he exited the game and he was unable to pick up the victory. Nothing new there, as Kluber currently holds a 3-9 record. That aside, he's struck out 24 batters in his last 15 innings and holds a 3.64 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 141/24 K/BB ratio over 118 2/3 innings this season. He'll look to break back into the win column in a home start against the Astros next time he takes the mound.
Jul 2 - 3:23 PM

Making his first start since April 7, 2014, Matt Moore allowed four runs on six hits over 4 2/3 innings in Thursday's no-decision against the Indians.

Moore had been on the shelf for over a year as he recovered from Tommy John surgery. He held a 2.95 ERA and 24/8 K/BB ratio in 21 1/3 minor league rehab innings before the Rays eased him back into action against the Indians on Thursday. Throwing 53 of his 84 pitches for strikes, he struck out four and walked two in the contest. After putting up zeros on the scoreboard through the first three innings, he allowed a run in the fourth, then three straight RBI singles in the fifth before being relieved of duty. Moore was an All-Star in 2013, but it's reasonable to expect some inconsistency here, as it's been a long time since the southpaw faced major league hitting. He'll take to the road for a potential tough test against the Royals as he tries to work himself back into game-shape.
Jul 2 - 3:20 PM

Buster Posey (head) went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and two RBI in Thursday's loss to the Marlins.

Posey homered off of flamethrower Carter Capps in the eighth inning to draw the Giants to within 5-4, but they would be unable to push across another run and ultimately fell by that final score. It's good to see him back in the lineup, as he took a foul ball off his mask in Wednesday's contest with the Marlins. After passing a concussion test, he hit in his normal cleanup spot and looked like his normal self on Thursday. Posey is hitting .304/.377/.496 with 13 homers and 56 RBI this season.
