Jared Goff - QB - Rams

Jared Goff completed 22-of-28 passes for 292 yards and three touchdowns in a 41-39 win over the 49ers in Week 3.

What a difference a year makes with his career-high 145.8 passer rating in this one. In fact, Goff's passing rating improvement from his lowly 63.6 in his rookie season to his second-year rating of 118.2 is on pace to be the largest increase since 1970 among players making the jump to their sophomore season. Last year, he was also dead last in yards per attempt among quarterbacks with at least 200 attempts, but his air yards have transformed his approach as a passer. Coach Sean McVay is probably a slight improvement from the guy last year. While he's done a great job shedding the bust label so far this season, Goff is still going to be a risky fantasy play in Dallas for Week 4.

Todd Gurley - RB - Rams

Todd Gurley rushed 28 times for 113 yards and two rushing touchdowns and caught 5-of-7 targets for 36 yards and one receiving touchdown against the 49ers in Week 3.

This isn't that same old seven and nine stuff. Gurley's three TDs in the first half got him to six in the first 10 quarters of this season, which matched his entire total in 2016. His usage is headed to be among the league leaders and the Rams' sudden improvement on offense should lead to more scores. Coach Sean McVay blamed himself for Gurley's fumbling issues in Week 2 and talked about his own "uncharacteristic decisions" and "indecisiveness," so clearly he trusts his bell-cow back. Gurley looks like he will be an RB1 in his third season.

Sammy Watkins - WR - Rams

Sammy Watkins is in the concussion protocol following a win over the 49ers in Week 3, finishing with six catches, 106 yards and two touchdowns on his seven targets.

He was hit hard on his second touchdown, walked to the locker room under his own power, and the severity of the injury is not yet known, but let's focus on how marvelous he was before the injury for now. He scored his first touchdown as the primary read on a double slant from the one-yard line, and Watkins had one of the prettiest over-the-shoulder catches you'll ever see for a 47-yard completion earlier in the game. Coach Sean McVay talked about getting his key players in a better rhythm, so it would appear we won't see Watkins get 3.5 targets per game like he did in the first two outings this year. Hopefully, the extra days off before Week 4 will be enough for him to be ready for the Cowboys.

Robert Woods - WR - Rams

Robert Woods caught 6-of-7 targets for 108 yards against the 49ers in Week 3.

He led the Rams receivers in snaps for the first two games and he was even out there in one-wide sets near the goal line tonight. As impressive as this line is after a one-catch Week 2, the Rams do look to be involving Sammy Watkins more and running the rock will be essential to their success, so Woods will have tough time matching this output most weeks. Unless Watkins does have a concussion and needs to miss time, Woods isn't really a great fantasy pickup after this one.

Cooper Kupp - WR - Rams

Cooper Kupp caught 2-of-2 targets for 17 yards against the 49ers in Week 3.

He played 37 of the 65 snaps in this game, but this win was all about Todd Gurley and Sammy Watkins. Jared Goff going down the field more than anticipated has cooled the hype on the slot man, but NFL defenses could make an adjustment to help make the rookie as more of a security blanket. Most owners in competitive leagues should just bench him, but he is trending down after his strong Week 1.

Gerald Everett - TE - Rams

Gerald Everett was not targeted in Week 3 against the 49ers.

He entered Week 3 as the leading rookie for receiving yards, but a 69-yard reception last week is the main reason. Everett isn't running enough routes or getting enough snaps to be counted on in re-draft leagues .

Tavon Austin - WR - Rams

Tavon Austin rushed three times for 14 yards and wasn't targeted against the 49ers in Week 3.

Late in the fourth quarter, he needed to be evaluated for a concussion. The Rams have been lining him up out wide and they had him in the backfield because they only had two active backs. He almost scored on a jet sweep from 11 yards out, but he was tackled just shy of the goal line. This week, coach Sean McVay said Austin "has a lot more in him, just as a complete receiver," but he's still getting most of his looks as a gadget guy.

Brian Hoyer - QB - 49ers

Brian Hoyer completed 23-of-37 passes for 332 yards and two passing touchdowns with nine rushing yards and one rushing score in a 41-39 loss during Week 3 against the Rams.

It looked like he was in for a rough night with an interception on the first play that was nearly a pick six. Hoyer had three turnovers in the first two games and the 49ers didn't post any touchdowns in those two games, so there were some murmurs of C.J. Beathard pushing him sooner rather than later. It's a step forward for the 31-year-old Spartan, but he's still only a low-end QB2 against the Cardinals in Week 4.
