Seahawks DT Brandon Mebane (hamstring surgery) expects to be "full go" by April.

Mebane tore his hamstring in early November, and required surgery. Now 30, Mebane is due $5.5 million in 2015. That's a steep price for a rotational run plugger who just missed half a season, though Mebane was among the league's better defensive tackles in 2013.

Thomas Davis expects the Panthers to address his contract this offseason.

Going into the final year of his deal, Davis will make $7.25 million, and count $10.066 million against the cap. Amazingly, Davis has now appeared in at least 15 games each of the past three years after continual ACL woes limited him to nine total appearances between 2009-11. Not only that, he's played at a high level. With Davis going on 32, a 1-2 year extension could be in order.

Seahawks DT Kevin Williams is expected to again consider retirement this offseason.

Williams nearly hung it up last offseason before the Seahawks came calling with a one-year, $2.1 million deal in June. Going on 35, Williams played 445 snaps during the regular season, plugging the run for the NFC Champions.

Patriots C Bryan Stork (knee) "hopes" to be active for Super Bowl XLIX.

Stork said he's spending his week with the Patriots' training staff. Stork was listed as "limited" in the Pats' bye-week practices. Likely looking to employ a power-rushing attack against the Seahawks' elite defense, New England needs its middle man back as it goes for its fourth Super Bowl title of the Bill Belichick era.

Redskins hired ex-Giants DC Perry Fewell as DBs coach.

Fewell was also a candidate for the 49ers' defensive-backs job. Fewell has been coordinating defenses or coaching defensive backs in the NFL since 1998. He's a nice addition to DC Joe Barry's staff, especially since Barry himself was such an underwhelming hire.

ESPN's Ed Werder reports Bengals DBs coach Vance Joseph is the Broncos' first choice to fill their defensive-coordinator vacancy, but that Cincinnati has yet to allow an interview.

The Broncos were first connected to Joseph last week. With the Bengals apparently not budging, GM John Elway is interviewing Wade Phillips on Wednesday. Good coordinator though he is, Phillips would be another retread for Elway, who lamented his past staff's inability to take the team to the next level. Joseph would be an aggressive hire for a club that wants to mix things up.

According to ESPN Dallas, there are people within the Cowboys who believe Joseph Randle can be a 1,400-yard rusher.

Those people are likely sharing a drink with Jerry Jones, who always looks at his players with rose-colored glasses. Randle is a decent back who averaged a whopping 6.73 YPC on his 51 carries in 2014, but he's nowhere near DeMarco Murray's skill level. There are also questions about Randle as a receiver and in pass pro. Still, he's a name to monitor closely (along with Ryan Williams and Lance Dunbar) as we wait to see if DeMarco bolts in free agency.

Bears signed WR John Chiles to a reserve/future contract.

The 6'2/210 Chiles went undrafted out of Texas way back in 2011. He's had cups of coffee with the Saints and Rams, but has never caught an NFL pass. Chiles went 29-475-1 for the CFL's Toronto Argonauts in 2014.
