Brewers optioned OF Keon Broxton to Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Broxton possesses a dazzling blend of power and speed, and has clubbed 14 home runs and swiped 17 bases this season, but he also owns a 124/27 K/BB ratio in 326 plate appearances and is mired in a 3-for-50 slump. The Brewers hope to get him back on track again before bringing him back for a potential pennant race.

Brewers activated INF Eric Sogard from the 10-day disabled list.

Sogard made it through a pair of rehab games with Low-A Wisconsin without any issue and will be active on Saturday. Keon Broxton was demoted to Triple-A in a corresponding move.

Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports that the potential deal between the Braves and Twins for Jaime Garcia stalled out due to the Braves' medical concern over one of the Twins' prospects that would have headed back in the trade.

Rosenthal notes that while both sides are now working alternative trade possibilities, the two sides could still revive the deal and get something done.

Reds recalled RHP Robert Stephenson from Triple-A Louisville.

He'll get the start against the Marlins on Saturday night. The 24-year-old has been a disaster in 13 appearances out of the Reds' bullpen this season, posting an 8.03 ERA, 1.99 WHIP and 27/16 K/BB ratio, but looked much better in the rotation at Triple-A. Still, this is a situation where daily players would be wise to fire up a Marlins' stack or two on Saturday.

Reds optioned RHP Ariel Hernandez to Triple-A Louisville.

Hernandez was the odd-man out as the Reds had to make room for Saturday's starter Robert Stephenson. Hernandez compiled a 5.28 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 21/10 K/BB ratio over 15 1/3 innings with the big league club. He should get another opportunity in Cincinnati before long.

According to Buster Olney of ESPN, the Dodgers are exploring a potential trade for Addison Reed.

The Dodgers would like to bolster their setup corps in front of closer Kenley Jansen and Reed would certainly fit the bill. The 28-year-old right-hander owns a 2.35 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 47/6 K/BB ratio across 46 innings this season while accumulating 16 saves for the Mets.
Jul 22 - 12:11 PM

Buster Olney of ESPN reports that the Brewers have expressed interest in acquiring Ian Kinsler from the Tigers.

The Brewers are in free fall mode and have seen their lead in the National League Central evaporate since the All-Star break, so they're exploring all options. He's only on the books for this season, plus a very affordable $10 million club option for 2018, so he's a guy who could make a lot of sense to teams looking for an upgrade at second base.

Giants signed INF Pablo Sandoval to a minor league contract.

The Red Sox granted his official release on Friday and now Sandoval returns to the one place he has had considerable big league success. It shouldn't be long before he's an option for the Giants.
