Dodgers prospect 1B Cody Bellinger went 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBI on Wednesday for High-A Rancho Cucamonga.

Bellinger is playing beyond his years this season despite making the jump directly from Rookie ball to the California League. The 19-year-old is batting .275/.346/.509 with 21 extra-base hits (eight home runs) and 30 RBI through 44 games. He’s been particularly hot of late, too, hitting safely in 20 of his last 21 games with an impressive .313/.364/.638 batting line in that span.

Athletics prospect SS Yairo Munoz went 2-for-4 with a home run, triple and pair of RBI on Wednesday for Low-A Beloit.

The home run gives Munoz five this season, and he’s batting .284/.317/.444 with 14 extra-base hits over 44 games in the Midwest League. The 20-year-old shortstop doesn’t have the hype of Franklin Barreto, the team’s other notable shortstop prospect, but he’s quickly making a name for himself with a strong showing in his full-season debut. Munoz has really padded his stats in his last nine contests, with a .421/.436/.763 batting line and three home runs in 39 plate appearances in that span. However, with Barreto handling shortstop duties for High-A Stockton, it seems unlikely that Munoz will receive a promotion anytime soon.

Leonys Martin is not in Thursday's lineup against the Red Sox.

Delino DeShields will start in center field and bat leadoff against Red Sox rookie left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez. Chances are Martin will be back in there Friday with right-handed knuckleballer Steven Wright on the hill.
May 28 - 4:33 PM

White Sox released 1B Dan Black.

Black was released from his contract to pursue an opportunity with a team in the Koreaa Baseball Organization. The 27-year-old was batting .324/.457/.568 with six home runs and 24 RBI through 34 games this season at Triple-A Charlotte.
May 28 - 4:29 PM

Alexei Ramirez is out of the starting lineup for the second game of Thursday's doubleheader against the Orioles.

Gordon Beckham will start at shortstop and bat fifth. This will be his first start at shortstop this season and just the third of his career.
May 28 - 4:26 PM

Manny Machado will bat leadoff and play third base in the second game of Thursday's doubleheader against the Orioles.

Machado was ejected from the first game of the doubleheader after slamming his bat when he was called out on strikes, but he's right back in there for the nightcap. David Lough will start in left field while Steve Clevenger is behind the plate.
May 28 - 4:24 PM

Mariners prospect 3B/1B D.J. Peterson went 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBI on Wednesday for Double-A Jackson.

The home run was just the second of the year for Peterson, who slugged 31 in 2014 between High-A High Desert and Jackson. Even more concerning is the fact that the 23-year-old is batting just .213/.282/.305 with a 44 strikeouts through 42 games. But while it’s been a slow and disappointing start to the season for the 2013 first-round draft pick, his strong track record as a professional suggests his production will eventually pick up.
May 28 - 4:23 PM

White Sox recalled RHP Chris Beck from Triple-A Charlotte.

Beck will be making his major league debut when he starts the second game of Thursday's doubleheader against the Orioles. The 24-year-old had a 3.30 ERA and 33/11 K/BB ratio in 46 1/3 innings through his first eight starts this season in Triple-A.
