Jon Edwards (elbow) is on track to begin a rehab assignment this week with High-A Lake Elsinore.

Edwards has been on the disabled list since the end of spring training with a flexor muscle strain in his right arm. He'll probably be asked to spend close to 10 days in the minors in order to get fully up to speed for major league competition. The right-hander registered a 3.38 ERA with 16 strikeouts in 16 2/3 innings last season for San Diego after being acquired from the Rangers in the Will Venable trade.

Ben Revere ripped a rare home run in Tuesday's win over the Mets.

The home run even came off of a left-hander, as Revere took southpaw Antonio Bastardo deep with a solo shot in the seventh inning. Revere also doubled and drew a walk, scoring a pair of runs on the night. The speedy leadoff hitter is starting to heat up with multi-hit games in four out of his last five contests.
May 24 - 10:41 PM

Ryan Braun hit his eighth home run of the season as the Brewers edged the Braves 2-1 on Tuesday.

Braun took Julio Teheran deep in the fourth inning for a solo bomb, one of just three hits on the night against the Braves starter. It was his first home run since returning to the lineup after missing nearly a week with a sore back. When he's been in the lineup, Braun has been an offensive beast, batting .357/.419/.579 with eight homers, 29 RBI and 22 runs scored overall.

Eric Campbell smacked a two-run homer in Tuesday's loss to the Nationals.

He also drove in a run with a groundout. Campbell's longball didn't ultimately amount to much, as it came with one out in the ninth inning and cut the Mets' deficit from five to three. He's serving as the first baseman for now with Lucas Duda (back) out but will likely be pushed aside this weekend with Wilmer Flores (hamstring) slated to return.
May 24 - 10:37 PM

Mallex Smith hit an RBI triple in a loss to the Brewers on Tuesday.

Smith pulled a Jimmy Nelson pitch into the right field corner in the fifth inning, and his speed was on display as he easily made it into third base without a throw. His speed was less impressive in the seventh inning, when, after a walk, he was caught stealing second base, the sixth time he's been caught in 12 attempts this season. The growing pains have certainly been there, as he's hitting .248/.292/.438 in his first year with the big club, but his three homers and six steals hint at the 23-year-old's potential.
May 24 - 10:35 PM

Nathan Eovaldi allowed just two hits across six shutout innings in Tuesday's 6-0 victory over the Blue Jays.

Eovaldi issued three free passes, but a Troy Tulowitzki single in the second inning and a Jose Bautista single in the third were the only base knocks against the hard-throwing right-hander. He struck out five on the night. Eovaldi has dropped his ERA from 5.46 to 3.95 over his last four starts. He'll face the Rays on Sunday.
May 24 - 10:33 PM

Jonathan Villar went 1-for-3 with a walk, a stolen base and a run scored in a win over the Braves on Tuesday.

Villar ended up scoring the winning run after walking, stealing second and scoring on a Scooter Gennett single in the eighth inning. The stolen base was his 15th of the season. Villar has thrived in an everyday role with the Brewers, batting .287/.385/.389 in 43 games.
May 24 - 10:32 PM

R.A. Dickey struck out seven but was charged with four runs over 6 2/3 innings in Tuesday's loss to the Yankees.

One run scored in the first inning after Jose Bautista turned a Jacoby Ellsbury single into a triple with an ill-advised dive. Dickey didn't pitch poorly, as he yielded only five hits and a couple walks. However, after a nice three-start stretch, Dickey has now given up four runs in back-to-back outings. He'll get the Red Sox this weekend.
