Orlando Arcia was removed from Friday's game against the Marlins with an apparent ankle injury.

Arcia appeared to roll his ankle while trying to get back to first base after his single in the eighth inning. He had to be helped off of the field. Arcia will presumably head for imaging to see if there's any structural damage, expect an update from the team either late Friday or early Saturday.

Chris Archer held the Twins to two runs in 6 2/3 innings on Friday but did not factor into the decision.

It was his first good start of the season and he deserved to win the ballgame. Unfortunately the Rays' bullpen conspired to blow a big league and deprive him of the win, although the team did pull out the victory in extra innings. Archer fanned five, walked one and surrendered four knocks -- including a solo homer by Logan Morrison. His record holds at 1-1 and he lowered his ERA to 6.59 after five starts.

Logan Morrison went 1-for-4 and hit his first home run as a Twin on Friday against the Rays.

He smacked a solo dong off starter Chris Archer in the second inning. Morrison has been comically bad so far this year, so maybe this is the start of a climb back to respectability. He has a .083 batting average with one homer and three RBI almost a month into the season. He hit .246 with 38 home runs and 85 RBI last year with the Rays and struggled to find a job in the offseason.

Eddie Rosario belted a grand slam but it wasn't enough as his team lost to the Rays on Friday.

His clutch blast off reliever Sergio Romo tied the game at 6-6 in the seventh inning. It was his only hit of the day in four at-bats. The left fielder and clean-up hitter has a .226 batting average with two homers and nine RBI on the season.

Lance Lynn allowed five runs on seven hits in six innings against the Rays on Friday.

He notched seven strikeouts but also walked five batters and surrendered seven base hits. He had a quality start after six innings but blew that when he went back out for the seventh, giving up two more runs without recording an out. Lynn has now walked a scary 15 batters in 15 innings so far this year. He is 0-1 with a 6.00 ERA after three starts in his first year with the Twins.

Teoscar Hernandez swatted a home run, walked twice and drove in three runs in an 8-5 win over the Yankees on Friday.

He took Sonny Gray deep for a two-run shot in the third inning, then walked with the bases loaded to plate another run later in the ballgame. He's been white-hot to start the season, slashing .370/.433/.778 with two homers and nine RBI in 30 plate appearances.
Apr 20 - 11:17 PM

Lourdes Gurriel went 2-for-5 and drove in three runs while making his major league debut against the Yankees on Friday.

He made his first major league hit a memorable one by plating Kendrys Morales and Kevin Pillar with a single in the fourth inning. He followed that with another RBI-single in his next at-bat. Yuli's younger brother had a disastrous season in the minors last year but was tearing it up at Double-A this spring before getting the call to the big leagues today.
Apr 20 - 11:12 PM

Marco Estrada was credited with a win despite allowing five runs in five innings against the Yankees on Friday.

All five runs came via the longball -- a two-run shot by Tyler Austin, a two-run shot by Giancarlo Stanton and a solo bomb by Miguel Andujar. Home runs have been Estrada's weakness throughout his career and that doesn't look to be change this year. He's already allowed six dingers in his first four starts. He moves to 2-1 with a 5.32 ERA and 1.36 WHIP.
