Andrew Romine went 2-for-4 and worked a walk during the first game of Saturday's doubleheader versus the White Sox.

His two singles represented half the hits his club could manage in the ballgame, so it is no surprise they failed to score. The veteran utility man has played every position except pitcher and catcher for the Tigers this year. He has a .228 batting average with two home runs, 18 runs scored and 11 RBI in 129 plate appearances.

Hisashi Iwakuma (shoulder) threw a bullpen session on Saturday.

It was his first time throwing off a mound since landing on the DL earlier this month. Iwakuma didn't seem too happy with his results on Saturday, claiming it "wasn't the best bullpen." When asked how his shoulder felt, Iwakuma said, "I feel OK. I would like to move forward. Hopefully it will get better." Obviously Iwakuma is in the very early stages of his recovery and still has a long way to go. There's no timetable for his return.

Michael Fulmer allowed three runs in an eight-inning, complete game loss to the White Sox in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader.

He surrendered nine base hits and one walk while striking out four batters in the contest. The first run scored on a double-play grounder in the fifth inning. He allowed two more in his eighth and final frame. His record falls to 5-3 with an elite 2.65 ERA in 10 starts. The 24-year-old continues to show the form he displayed while taking home the American League Rookie of the Year award last season.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Justin Turner (hamstring) will need a minor league rehab assignment before he's activated from the disabled list.

That's likely to happen sometime next week. If all goes well, Turner could be back with the Dodgers by the end of their seven-game road trip which begins on Monday. Turner was hitting a league-leading .379 before landing on the DL with a strained hamstring.

Jose Bautista smashed a three-run homer off Yu Darvish to lead his club to a 3-1 victory over the Rangers on Saturday.

Coming to the plate with two out in the fifth inning with runners on first and third, Bautista smoked a hanging breaking ball from Darvish well over the wall in left field. It was all the offense the Blue Jays would need to win the game. Bautista was ice cold for the entire month of April, but has been one of the hottest hitters in baseball lately. For the season he has a .236 batting average with nine home runs and 26 RBI.

Roberto Osuna tossed a drama-free ninth inning to earn a save against the Rangers on Saturday.

After inducing a flyout and a groundout to begin the inning he struck out Ryan Rua to end the game. Osuna now has nine saves and two wins to go against three blown saves and zero losses. He has a 2.89 ERA with 21 strikeouts and only two walks in 18 2/3 frames.

Marco Estrada beat the Rangers on Saturday by allowing just one run in six innings of work.

He allowed a home run to the first batter of the game but was lights out from then on. He surrendered only four hits and one walk in the game and punched out eight batters. His excellent 78/17 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 68 2/3 innings has led to a fine 3.15 ERA in eleven starts. He will put his 4-2 record on the line against the Yankees on Thursday.
May 27 - 4:45 PM

Mike Fiers has been moved to the bullpen.

This comes after Fiers was knocked around for 10 hits and four runs (three earned) Thursday against Detroit. His rotation spot will be absorbed by Brad Peacock. Fiers will operate in a long relief role until a spot opens up for him in the starting rotation.
