Tyler Lyons will start on Monday against the Mets.

The writing had been on the wall, and Cardinals manager Mike Matheny made it official Sunday morning. As long as he performs, Lyons will make at least two starts while Joe Kelly (hamstring) is on the DL. If Kelly's absence drags out longer, the club could consider giving Carlos Martinez a shot. Lyons holds a 3.32 ERA with 18 strikeouts over his first 19 Triple-A frames this season.

Jordy Mercer (ankle) is out of the lineup again Sunday.

Mercer was removed from Friday's game after getting spiked in the ankle. He was able to pinch-hit in Saturday's game but said that the area is still "tender." He'll test things out with some lateral movements Sunday before possibly returning to action Monday. Clint Barmes is at shortstop again Sunday.

The Braves tentatively plan to have Mike Minor (shoulder) rejoin the rotation on Saturday against the Reds.

He'd be going on two extra days' rest with Thursday's off day. Minor allowed three runs -- two earned -- on four hits and no walks with four strikeouts in his final rehab start for Triple-A Gwinnett on Saturday. He got his pitch count up to 80 in the outing, so Minor should be able to get up to around 100 against the Reds.

Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports that Sean Doolittle is "likely to get around $14 million guaranteed" on his new five-year contract.

The A's have options for 2019 and 2020, which could bring the total value of the deal to over $20 million. Locking any reliever up for that long is a risk, but it's a reasonable price to pay. Doolittle should easily be worth the deal if he can manage to stay healthy.

Anthony Rizzo is back in the Cubs' lineup Sunday.

Rizzo left Saturday's game due to back spasms, but he tested things out Sunday morning and feels fine. He's hitting .333/.414/.500 with two homers and eight RBI for the Cubbies this season.

Jeremy Hellickson (elbow) felt good while playing catch Sunday.

Hellickson was shut down for a few days after feeling some soreness in his surgically-repaired right elbow when he threw curveballs. The setback was only a minor one, though it's not clear when he'll try to throw from a mound again.

Brewers activated 1B Lyle Overbay from the paternity leave list.

He was away for a few days while his wife gave birth. Overbay will continue to see regular playing time at first base against right-handers.

Athletics outfield prospect B.J. Boyd hit his second home run of the season for Low-A Beloit on Saturday.

The home run was Boyd's second in three games, bringing his season line up to .276/.354/.431 through 15 games. He has seven walks and nine strikeouts to go with getting caught stealing three times and zero stolen bases. Boyd profiles as a solid #2 hitter in a lineup who hits 10-15 home runs and hits .280 while playing good defense in left field.
