Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports confirms Steelers OLB James Harrison (shoulder, triceps, questionable) is expected to play in Sunday's AFC Championship Game against the Patriots.
Harrison sat out Thursday's practice but was back for a full session on Friday. Despite the questionable tag, there was never much doubt about his status for Sunday's AFC title game in Foxboro. Look for Harrison to put plenty of heat on Tom Brady.
NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reports the Redskins are promoting OLBs coach Greg Manusky to defensive coordinator.
Gus Bradley, Mike Pettine and Rob Ryan also interviewed for the position. Manusky has nine years of coordinating experience including a four-year stint as the Colts' DC from 2012-15. None of those defenses in Indianapolis were anything special and the Redskins will likely stay with the 3-4 scheme they used under Joe Barry. It represents a bland hire for a Redskins' coaching staff that lost both of its top coordinators from 2016.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Colts brought in a psychologist last year for coach Chuck Pagano and former GM Ryan Grigson to work through some of their issues.
One source compared the sessions to marriage counseling. The Colts tried their best to ease the hostility between Pagano and Grigson but in the end, the relationship couldn't be saved. Owner Jim Irsay finally fired Grigson on Saturday, dissolving what had been a five-year partnership. Pagano reportedly has a much better relationship with VP of Football Operations Jimmy Raye III, who is expected to replace Grigson as the full-time GM. Regardless of who succeeds Grigson, Pagano will be entering a must-win season in 2017.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Falcons are expected to "explore" a contract extension with Matt Ryan this offseason.
After this season, Ryan will have two years remaining on his five-year, $103.75 million contract. Rapoport expects Ryan's agent Tom Condon to capitalize on his career-best season with the goal of making Ryan the league's highest-paid quarterback, a title currently held by Andrew Luck. Ryan's current annual salary is 11th-highest among NFL signal-callers. Ryan carries a $23.75 million cap hit for next season and an extension could help to reduce that number.
Packers WR Geronimo Allison (hamstring, questionable) is expected to play in Sunday's NFC Championship Game against the Falcons.
He was a DNP at practice this week but will give it a go in Sunday's do-or-die game at the Georgia Dome. Allison played the Falcons in his NFL debut, catching two-of-four targets for 21 yards and a touchdown back in Week 8. Playing at much less than 100 percent, Allison will be a tough sell as a DFS dart throw this week.
Davante Adams (ankle, questionable) is expected to play in Sunday's NFC Championship Game against the Falcons.
The Packers' receiving corps is pretty banged up but it looks like they'll have all their heavy hitters on hand for Sunday's NFC title game. That includes Adams, who went for 74 yards on 12 catches against Atlanta when he faced them in Week 8. It's fair to wonder how effective Adams will be after missing all three practices this week.
Cardinals coach Bruce Arians is hopeful Carson Palmer will return in 2017.
"The way he played down the stretch makes you believe he’s coming back, but he got beat up pretty good last year," said Arians. "So you never know." Palmer's last words to Arians before the offseason were "I'll let you know soon." Larry Fitzgerald has also been noncommittal about returning and it's possible that if one goes, the other will too. Palmer looked sluggish at times in 2016 but played well late in the year to finish with 26 touchdown passes and 4,233 passing yards.
Jordy Nelson (ribs, illness, questionable) is expected to play with a Kevlar vest in Sunday's NFC Championship Game against the Falcons.
Nelson practiced twice this week but wasn't cleared for any contact. Under normal circumstances Nelson would likely have been ruled out, but instead he'll wear a protective vest made from Kevlar. Tony Romo wore a similar vest when he played through broken ribs a few years ago. Nelson is putting it all on the line for Sunday's NFC Championship tilt but it's unclear how effective he'll be or if the Packers plan on using him as a decoy. Davante Adams (ankle, questionable) and Geronimo Allison (hamstring, questionable) will also suit up on Sunday.
