Jorge Polanco went 4-for-5 with a double and an RBI against the Orioles on Monday.

Even though he's been really good at avoiding the strikeout, Polanco's season has been pretty meh so far, as he's hitting .268 with just two homers in 137 at-bats. Still, his defense at shortstop has been better than expected, especially considering that Twins gave up on him at that position going into last year.

Matt Adams went 2-for-4 with his first Braves home run in Monday's victory over the Pirates.

Adams singled in the bottom of the fourth inning and slugged a two-run shot in the bottom of the fifth. It was his second game in an Atlanta uniform. He batted fifth in this one and is capable of providing decent deep-league fantasy value out of that spot.

Adam Jones clobbered a three-run homer off the Twins' Kyle Gibson on Monday.

That's three homers in five games for Jones. This one gave him his first multi-RBI game since April 24.
May 22 - 11:09 PM

Michael Foltynewicz allowed two runs -- one earned -- over five innings Monday in the Braves' defeat of the Pirates.

Folty easily out-dueled Pirates ace Gerrit Cole, who was lit up for five earned runs on 10 hits by the Atlanta offense. The right-hander struck out five Pittsburgh batters and worked around eight hits to earn his third win of the season. Folty will carry a 3.86 ERA into his next start on the road versus the Giants.
May 22 - 11:07 PM

Michael Pineda pitched 6 1/3 innings of two-run ball in a victory over the Royals on Monday.

This makes eight straight starts in which Pineda has allowed no more than three earned runs. He hasn't excellent every time out, but his only poor outing was his season debut versus the Rays. He's now 5-2 with a 3.35 ERA.
May 22 - 11:05 PM

Gerrit Cole was lit up for five earned runs over 4 2/3 innings Monday in a loss to the Braves.

Cole didn't have it in this one, registering just two strikeouts while surrendering a walk and 10 hits, including two home runs. The right-hander watched his ERA jump from 2.84 to 3.36, and he now stands 2-5 on a last-place Pirates team with an overall record of 20-25. Cole, a potential trade candidate this summer, will get the Mets at home next.
May 22 - 11:04 PM

Tyler Clippard picked up his fifth hold with a scoreless eighth inning Monday against the Royals.

It looked like Clippard's tenure as a reliable setup man was winding down at this time last year, but he's been great since rejoining the Yankees, particularly this season. He's struck out 27 while giving up just three earned runs in 19 2/3 innings.
May 22 - 11:02 PM

Jason Vargas yielded three runs in six innings Monday in a loss to the Yankees.

Vargas fared better in Yankee Stadium than he did five days ago in a home start against the Yankees, but homer count for the season did double from two to four, as both Brett Gardner and Didi Gregorius took him deep. More homers are on the way, probably this weekend when he pitches in Cleveland.
