Appearing on Sirius XM NFL Radio, ESPN's Adam Schefter said "momentum and signs seem to be piling up against a Chip Kelly return to Philadelphia."
Schefter added that the two sides are "sick of each other." The Eagles have greatly underachieved this year, compiling a listless 4-6 record while playing in arguably the league's worst division. His offense has been particularly disappointing as the Eagles have averaged just 22.9 points per game, well down from last year's 29.6. A host of college teams will be interested in Kelly if he comes available this offseason.
Free agent RB Kendall Hunter worked out for the Jets on Tuesday.
He was one of four free agents to work out Tuesday along with Rob Housler, Tim Jamison and Ryan Mueller. The Jets are already pretty well-stocked at running back so they might just be updating their emergency list should something happen to Chris Ivory or Bilal Powell. Hunter has also tried out for the Patriots, Seahawks and Jaguars since the Niners released him with an injury settlement in September.
Dolphins waived CB Zackary Bowman.
A 31-year-old gunner, Bowman will hunt for special teams work.
The Patriots will not activate LB Dane Fletcher (knee) from the reserve/PUP list, ending his season.
A core special teamer, Fletcher is headed for free agency. He turned 29 in September.
The Patriots will not activate DT Chris Jones (calf surgery) from the reserve/PUP list, ending his season.
The Pats have depth at defensive tackle, and didn't want to subtract someone to add Jones. Jones is due a modest $675,000 next season, but there's no guarantee he's back in New England.
NFL suspended free agent S LaRon Landry indefinitely.
A habitual PED-abuser, Landry just recently returned from a 10-game ban. It's unclear what his latest suspension is for, but it should just about end his career. Landry turned 31 last month, and hasn't generated any known interest since getting cut loose by the Colts last February.
Raiders waived OLB Ray-Ray Armstrong.
Armstrong had played 211 snaps on defense this season, but fallen out of favor in recent weeks. Armstrong has some play-making ability, but is too mistake prone to be a difference maker.
Packers WR Ty Montgomery (ankle) has yet to resume practicing.
Montgomery aggravated his injury last Thursday, and seems to be without a timeline for a return. The Pack's receiver corps needs all the help it can get, but Montgomery is off the radar in re-draft leagues.
