Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports that the Astros have acquired Carlos Gomez and Mike Fiers from the Brewers.

The Brewers will net several prospects in the deal. Gomez was nearly traded to the Mets on Wednesday before the deal broke down over financial issues, and it appears that their loss is the Astros gain. It's a very strong move for the Astros and should put them as the favorites to capture the American League West.

Dodgers designated 1B Michael Morse for assignment.

Morse was acquired on Thursday as part of the massive 13-player, three-team trade with the Marlins and Braves, but it's clear that he was just a salary dump. The 33-year-old is unlikely to attract much interest on waivers.

Pirates acquired RHP Joakim Soria from the Tigers for SS JaCoby Jones.

While it's a major hit to the fantasy value for the veteran right-hander, he will bolster an already elite Pirates bullpen that boasts Tony Watson and Jared Hughes in front of closer Mark Melancon.

Tigers acquired SS JaCoby Jones from the Pirates for RHP Joakim Soria.

The 23-year-old was hitting .260/.319/.398 with 10 homers, 60 RBI and 15 stolen bases between High-A Bradenton and Double-A Altoona. He will report to Double-A Erie for the Tigers.

Indians recalled INF Lonnie Chisenhall from Triple-A Columbus.

With Brandon Moss shipped out of town, Chisenhall could see some action in the corner outfield, where he had been working in the minors. Unless he finds everyday at-bats though, his fantasy value is limited to AL-only formats.

Justin Upton cracked a go-ahead three-run home run in the ninth inning of Thursday afternoon's 8-7 win over the Mets.

This will go down as one of the stranger games of the season. The Mets held a 7-1 lead after six innings. This advantage was dropped to two runs after Derek Norris hit a grand slam in the seventh inning. And then the ninth inning happened. Mets closer Jeurys Familia recorded the first two outs of the inning easily enough, at which point, a string of storms hit and delayed the game for 44 minutes. You can probably guess what happened next. Familia returned to the game after the long delay, allowed two singles, then served up a three-run homer to Upton to give the Padres an 8-7 lead. This would hold as the final score, though not before another delay of over an hour. The baseball deities must have really wanted to enjoy this epic collapse. Upton's name has been swirling in trade rumors for weeks, but he's still with the Padres and it's not a given that he'll be moved. He's struggled over the last two months, but has now homered twice and driven in six in his last two games.

Athletics released OF Day an Viciedo.

The veteran slugger opted out of his deal and was granted his release from the Athletics. He'll look to latch on elsewhere on a minor league pact.

Derek Norris hit a grand slam and finished a perfect 5-for-5 in Thursday afternoon's 8-7 win over the Mets.

Norris was integral to the Padres' comeback operation. Down 7-1 in the seventh inning, he stepped up with the bases loaded and smashed a grand slam off of Mets reliever Hansel Robles. That's not all. Following a rain delay of 44 minutes, the catcher singled with two outs in the ninth inning and would come around to score on a three-run homer by Justin Upton that gave the Padres the lead and win over the reeling Mets. Norris is slashing .238/.283/.407 with 12 homers and 49 RBI this season.
