Jesse Hahn (blister) will throw a bullpen on Sunday or Monday to determine if he's able to return to the Athletics rotation on Wednesday.

He was scratched from his scheduled start on Thursday due to the blister issue, which has improved in recent days. If Hahn is unable to go, Jesse Chavez seems likely to take another turn through the rotation.

Rays designated 1B Allan Dykstra for assignment.

Dykstra is the odd man out with James Loney back in the fold, and his 40-man roster spot was needed for Everett Teaford who had his contract selected on Saturday. If he passes through waivers unclaimed, Dykstra will continue to function as organizational depth for the Rays.

Rays purchased the contract of LHP Everett Teaford from Triple-A Durham.

Teaford will ad depth to the Rays bullpen, and with Erasmo Ramirez scheduled to pitch against the Blue Jays on Saturday their depth will surely be tested. The 30-year-old posted a 4.20 ERA and 1.47 WHIP in 15 innings at Triple-A.

Max Scherzer (thumb) had his scheduled bullpen session pushed back until Sunday.

He is still dealing with swelling in his thumb. If he is unable to throw Sunday, his scheduled start on Tuesday could be in question.

James Loney is not in the Rays lineup on Saturday.

He's being eased back into action so he will take a seat against opposing southpaw Daniel Norris. Logan Forsythe will start in his place at first base.

Ben Zobrist is scheduled to undergo arthroscopic surgery on his left knee.

The typical time frame for recovery is 4-to-6 weeks. The Athletics have enough moving parts and versatility to overcome his absence in the short term. Eric Sogard should see most of the work at second base while Zobrist is on the shelf.
Apr 25 - 1:56 PM

Evan Gattis is not in the Astros starting lineup on Saturday.

It appears to be a routine day off for Gattis, which is somewhat odd timing after his two-hit effort on Friday night. Expect him to return on Sunday.
Apr 25 - 1:48 PM

Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports that Josh Hamilton is willing to sacrifice $6 million of guaranteed money in the proposed deal to the Rangers.

With the Angels reportedly willing to take on up to $68 million of the $80 million remaining on his deal, that could put the Rangers expense at only $7 million. Hamilton is also expected to receive an opt-out clause in his deal after the 2016 season
