Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports that the Diamondbacks will recall Jarrod Saltalamacchia from Triple-A Reno on Friday.
With Tuffy Gosewish dealing with an injury, recalling the veteran backstop seemed the logical conclusions for the Diamondbacks to make. Fantasy owners expecting him to make an impact should note his uninspiring .188/.222/.375 line with two homers, seven RBI and a 13/2 K/BB ratio in nine games at Triple-A Reno.
Brandon Morrow (shoulder) threw three successful innings in a simulated game on Thursday.
The next step in the recovery process will be to go out on a minor league rehab assignment which is expected to require two starts. Barring any setbacks, he should be ready to rejoin the Padres rotation in a couple of weeks.
Slade Heathcott was scratched from the Yankees lineup on Thursday with soreness in his right quadriceps.
Chris Young will take his place and play center field for the Bombers on Thursday. Consider Heathcott day-to-day.
Orioles optioned RHP Tyler Wilson to Triple-A Norfolk.
He pitched well in a spot start in the first game of Thursday's doubleheader. He should get another opportunity the next time the O's need an extra arm.
The Athletics plan to skip Scott Kazmir's (shoulder) next start.
It sounds as though the team is optimistic that he will be able to rejoin the rotation after that, which is encouraging. Perhaps there was nothing significant found in Thursday's MRI, which would be a nice break for the oft-injured left-hander.
Coco Crisp (neck) is scheduled to undergo an epidural on Monday and will be sidelined at least a month afterward.
The hope remains that he will be able to avoid surgery, though it continues to look unlikely that he will be fantasy relevant this season. Billy Burns will continue to benefit in his absence.
Rangers recalled INF Hanser Alberto from Triple-A Round Rock.
Alberto is replacing Phil Klein on the roster. There's a strong chance he's there merely as infield depth for two days until the Rangers decide on a starter for Saturday, so it's unlikely he has any fantasy value.
Rangers optioned RHP Phil Klein to Triple-A Round Rock.
After a good showing in his first start, Klein was clobbered by the Indians on Memorial Day, and it has cost him his rotation spot. No replacement has been announced for Saturday's start, but it's expected to be Chi Chi Gonzalez.
