Willy Adames went 2-for-4 with an RBI single in Friday’s 2-1 victory over the Yankees.

Adames got the Rays on the board in the fourth inning before C.J. Cron added a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning for what proved to be some valuable insurance. The Rays appear committed to giving Adames an extended opportunity at shortstop, but he’s struggled to make consistent contact so far. He’s batting .208 with 21 strikeouts through 48 at-bats. This was his first multi-hit game since June 12.

Ryan Yarbrough improved to 6-3 on the year after tossing 3 1/3 scoreless innings against the Yankees on Friday.

Yarbrough took over after Ryne Stanek tossed a scoreless first inning. He held the Yankees to just one hit while walking three and striking out four. This was his first scoreless outing since way back on May 4. He’s fanned 67 batters in 71 2/3 innings this season while posting a 4.02 ERA. With his inconsistency and unconventional role, there’s just not much to get excited about here in standard mixed leagues.

CC Sabathia gave up two runs (one earned) over 5 1/3 innings in a loss to the Rays on Friday.

It could have been worse, as Sabathia escaped a bases-loaded jam in the first inning. He went on to give up runs in the fourth and fifth innings. The veteran southpaw fanned four and walked one in the loss. He’s now 4-3 with a 3.18 ERA through 14 starts this season. Up next is an interleague start against the Phillies on the road.

Sergio Romo tossed a scoreless ninth inning against the Yankees on Friday for his fifth save of the season.

Asked to hold a one-run lead, Romo gave up a leadoff single to Miguel Andujar, though he was eventually erased on a game-ending double play grounder. The veteran reliever has been used in the last five save situations for the Rays while converting four of them. He’s the name to pick up in fantasy leagues for those desperate for saves. Though this could change, Romo hasn’t "started" a game since June 1.

Wilson Ramos went 3-for-4 in Friday’s win over the Yankees.

All three hits were singles. Ramos has been one of the most productive catchers in the game during the first half, batting .296/.344/.452 with nine homers and 36 RBI through 61 games. He’s going to be a valuable trade chip over the next month.

Brett Gardner (knee) went 2-for-5 with a pair of singles in his return to action Friday against the Rays.

Gardner missed five straight games due to right knee soreness, but he’s feeling better now. Despite his return to the lineup, the Yankees are keeping young outfielder Clint Frazier around for the time being.

Xander Bogaerts was removed from Friday's game against the Mariners with a sprained left index finger.

He sustained the injury while sliding head first into second base. The severity of the injury remains unclear at the moment, but the Red Sox should provide an update on his status after the conclusion of Friday's game.

Cody Bellinger slugged a monstrous grand slam to lead the Dodgers to a 5-2 victory over the Mets on Friday.

His sixth-inning second deck blast off Zack Wheeler proved to be the difference in the ballgame. It was his second career grand slam. Bellinger has been pretty quiet since homering in four straight games earlier this month, but he’s now up to 13 homers on the year to go along with a disappointing .232/.323/.459 batting line.
