Bills placed LCB Leodis McKelvin (ankle) on the reserve/NFI list.
McKelvin is expected to be ready before Week 7, so he should return when first eligible. McKelvin fractured his ankle last November, and had a setback early in the summer. Second-rounder Ronald Darby is holding down the fort opposite Stephon Gilmore in McKelvin's absence.
Bills waived FB John Conner.
Conner needed to show extremely well on special teams to make the Bills' 53 behind Jerome Felton. Felton will serve as Shady McCoy's 2015 lead blocker.
Cowboys waived RB Ben Malena.
A second-year undrafted free agent out of Texas A&M, Malena had a nice preseason, but couldn't crack the Cowboys' sorry running back corps. It's a sign he doesn't have much of an NFL future, though perhaps he'll land on the practice squad.
Eagles waived CB Randall Evans.
The 196th overall pick in May's draft, Evans was unable to crack a weak Eagles cornerback corps, which probably isn't a great sign for his prospects.
Eagles released S Chris Prosinski.
Prosinski lost out to Ed Reynolds for the Eagles' No. 3 safety job.
Bills waived QB Matt Simms.
Simms never had a legitimate chance to make the team and he solidified his release with a god-awful backwards pass/fumble in the preseason finale.
Cardinals released DE Matt Shaughnessy.
The Cardinals paid Shaughnessy a $500,000 bonus in March but are avoiding his $1.45 million base salary. Shaughnessy plays above-average run defense.
Texans waived WR Damaris Johnson and released DT Brandon Deaderick.
Johnson is a diminutive occasional deep threat and return specialist.
