According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Packers CB Sam Shields (concussion) is expected to be cleared in "a few more weeks."
Shields is still in the concussion protocol and it looks like he won't be cleared any time soon. His injury leaves the Packers' secondary a bit thin. Stefon Diggs roasted Green Bay in Week 2 and Marvin Jones could be in for a big game this week. In Shields' absence, the Packers have been rolling with Ladarius Gunter and Damarious Randall on the outside with Quinten Rollins handling slot duties.
Jaguars C Brandon Linder (knee) is not expected to play in Week 3.
He got hurt on Wednesday. The Jaguars will also be without LT Kelvin Beachum (concussion). Jacksonville's offensive line completely failed to open run-game holes in the first two weeks when their line was at full strength, so we wouldn't expect any improvement from the decimated group Sunday against the Ravens.
The Jaguars are expected to be without CB Prince Amukamara (hamstring) for Week 3 against the Ravens.
It's a plus to Joe Flacco's matchup. Without Amukamara in Week 2, the Jags were utterly torched by Philip Rivers for four touchdown passes while ceding a mammoth game to Travis Benjamin and a long touchdown to Tyrell Williams.
Lions RE Ziggy Ansah (ankle) is expected to miss Week 4 against the Bears.
He's already been ruled out for Sunday's game in Green Bay. Ansah left last week's game against the Titans with a high-ankle sprain and will now get a second opinion on his MRI. There's no timetable for his return.
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Rashad Jennings (thumb) is expected to miss Sunday's Week 3 game against the Redskins.
It's a stunner as Jennings attended practice throughout the week and never looked to be in serious danger of missing Week 3. His thumb injury is obviously more severe than the Giants were letting on. He's week to week. It's unclear how the backfield will shape up in his absence, though Shane Vereen logged 17 touches with Jennings ailing against the Saints in Week 2. Vereen is suddenly a strong RB2 play in PPR leagues.
The Raiders have promoted first-round SS Karl Joseph into the starting lineup.
The Raiders toyed around with Nate Allen and Keith McGill at strong safety in the first two games, and neither could cut it. Joseph was drafted specifically to fill this position. The Raiders also tabbed UDFA rookie Cory James as their new starting inside linebacker, replacing Ben Heeney.
Jamaal Charles (knee) is out for Week 3 against the Jets.
He was listed as doubtful on Friday despite seeing some practice reps with the first-team offense this week. Coach Andy Reid suggested Charles could play in Week 4 against Pittsburgh. Spencer Ware will carry the rushing load again on Sunday. For the season, he's out-touched Charcandrick West 30-16.
Vikings DT Sharrif Floyd (knee scope) is expected to miss 5-6 weeks.
The absence is lengthy enough that Floyd might become a candidate for I.R., and eventually I.R.-return. The Vikings will continue to use more of Shamar Stephen in Floyd's absence. Stephen has been terrific against the run.
