Royals released LHP Noel Arguelles.

The Royals invested $7 million in the Cuban defector in 2010, but he never came close to reaching expectations. Arguelles just turned 25 in January, but it remains to be seen how much interest he'll receive given his 5.59 ERA and 255/237 K/BB ratio over 407 1/3 career minor league innings.

Chris Sale (foot) is on pace to make his season debut on April 12 against the Twins.

That's the final game of the White Sox' first series at home. Sale threw a simulated game on Friday with no issues and could appear in a minor league game early next week. It's been four weeks since the left-hander suffered an avulsion fracture in his right foot and he's progressed without any setbacks.

Josh Reddick (oblique) said Friday that he's "shooting for Saturday or Sunday to get back in lineup."

Reddick got through a couple rounds of batting practice Thursday with no issues and now feels ready to test things out in game action. The outfielder has been on the shelf for three weeks but has enough time to get ready for Opening Day if he's able to avoid setbacks from here on out.

Chris Sale (foot) threw a simulated game on Friday.

It comes after he completed a bullpen session Wednesday with no issues. Sale is coming along nicely as he recovers from an avulsion fracture in his right foot and looks poised to rejoin the rotation by mid-April.

Indians optioned RHP Danny Salazar to Triple-A Columbus.

It was speculated after Salazar was rocked during Thursday's appearance that he might be sent down, and sure enough that's what happened. T.J. House and Zach McAllister are now the favorites to hold down the last two spots in the Indians' rotation, with Josh Tomlin also in the mix. Salazar still figures to spend ample time in the rotation this season if he can get straightened out at Triple-A, but obviously this is a big blow to his fantasy value.

Jake Petricka (forearm) will resume throwing on Saturday after an MRI came back clean.

Petricka is dealing with some forearm soreness (the same ailment White Sox closer David Robertson has), but it appears to be of no concern. Barring a setback, the setup man will be fine for Opening Day. Robertson is expected to be OK, as well.
Mar 27 - 12:18 PM

Victor Martinez (knee) was scratched from Friday's lineup due to weather-related concerns.

It's currently sunny in Florida, but showers are expected so the Tigers are playing it safe with V-Mart's surgically-repaired left knee. Martinez admitted to feeling a bit of soreness in the knee during Thursday's game, but it wasn't a cause for concern. Things are pointing towards him being ready for Opening Day.

An MRI on Shawn Tolleson's right forearm showed no structural damage.

Tolleson will be examined by Rangers team physician Dr. Keith Meister on Friday to determine his next step. The MRI news is obviously good, but Tolleson is still expected to begin the season on the disabled list. "In our minds it was very positive news," assistant general manager Thad Levine said. "We don’t think he’s lost any significant arm strength."
