Athletics transferred RHP Chris Bassitt from the 10-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.

The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster for Ryan LaMarre. Bassitt is looking at a midseason return from Tommy John surgery.

A.J. Griffin (ankle) played catch in the outfield Sunday.

Griffin went on the disabled list due to gout in his left ankle, but it won't stop him from continuing a throwing program. He might only miss one start.

Athletics acquired OF Ryan LaMarre from the Angels in exchange for cash considerations.

LaMarre has been designated for assignment. The 28-year-old has struggled in his brief time in the majors the last two seasons, but the A's need outfield depth an LaMarre can play all three spots.

Salvador Perez (neck) remained out of the Royals' lineup Sunday.

He hasn't caught since Thursday and has now missed two straight starts due to a sore neck. Drew Butera will catch again. The Royals are also giving Lorenzo Cain his first day off of the season, as Jorge Bonifacio is in center field.

Orioles manager Buck Showalter said Sunday of Pedro Alvarez trying to play the outfield at Triple-A Norfolk that "it's been a challenge for him."

It's no surprise, of course, as Alvarez has never played the outfield in his life and isn't exactly a svelte fellow. He's also hitting just .193/.324/.368 so far at Norfolk, although he has popped three homers. Alvarez can be a useful bat against righties, but it's hard to see a fit for him right now in Baltimore.

Zack Cozart was scratched from Sunday's lineup with a sore left wrist.

It's the same issue that cost him a couple games earlier this month. Jose Peraza has moved over to shortstop, Scooter Gennett will move from left field to second base and Patrick Kivlehan enters the lineup in left.

Tigers purchased the contract of OF Jim Adduci from Triple-A Toledo.

Adduci, who turns 32 in a few weeks, was off to a .349/.375/.488 start at Toledo after spending the last two seasons in Korea. He's starting in right field Sunday.

Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said Sunday that J.D. Martinez (foot) is on track to be activated from the disabled list in late April or early May.

Martinez ran outside on Friday at 40-60 percent effort and his ailing right foot felt better than expected the day after. He'll do more running Monday and doesn't appear to be far off from a rehab assignment. Martinez is making his way back from a sprained Lisfranc ligament.
