Diamondbacks activated INF/OF Chris Owings from the 15-day disabled list.

He's active and with the club for Saturday's game. Owings has been sidelined since June 11 due to plantar fasciitis in his left foot. He's expected to platoon in center field with Michael Bourn.

Athletics transferred LHP Fernando Rodriguez to the 60-day disabled list.

Nothing has changed in the progress of the injured left-hander, this was done merely as a procedural move to create a spot on the 40-man roster for Bruce Maxwell who joined the A's on Saturday.

Athletics placed C/1B Stephen Vogt on the family emergency medical leave list.

Vogt has a family matter that he needs to tend to for a couple of days, so the Athletics brought up Bruce Maxwell from Triple-A to help handle the load behind the plate.

Athletics purchased the contract of C Bruce Maxwell from Triple-A Nashville.

Maxwell joins the big league club as Stephen Vogt is placed on family emergency medical leave. He was pummeling the baseball at Triple-A, slashing .321/.393/.539 with 10 homers and 41 RBI in 60 games. He's in the lineup and making his first career start with the Athletics on Saturday.

Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reports that several teams have called the Royals inquiring on the availability of closer Wade Davis.

The Royals, who are considering selling at the trade deadline, are reportedly demanding a King's ransom for Davis. Heyman notes that the current asking price for Davis is higher than the Yankees are demanding for Aroldis Chapman. Davis is still under contract for a very affordable $10 million club option for next season, while Chapman hits free agency after the 2016 campaign, so there's certainly merit to asking for a higher price. Davis value shouldn't change much if he is dealt, as he's likely to close wherever he ends up. The Nationals are one club that Heyman notes have expressed interest in Davis.

Hunter Pence is scheduled to play six innings in a minor league rehab game with Triple-A Sacramento on Saturday.

He'll play seven innings on Sunday. If all continues to progress, he could be looking at a return to the Giants lineup before the end of next week, though there have already been multiple setbacks in his recovery so nothing is a given.

Joe Panik (concussion) was checked by a doctor on Saturday and has been cleared to continue baseball work.

He's going to remain out of the lineup at Triple-A for another couple of days, but it sounds as though he is progressing toward a return to the field. Panik has been on the sidelines since late June due to his concussion symptoms.

Jon Morosi of MLB Network reports that the Rays have demanded Jurickson Profar be included if they are to deal one of their available starting pitchers to the Rangers.

Chris Archer, Jake Odorizzi and Matt Moore are all said to be available for the right price, and it appears that price must include Profar if the Rangers are going to land a major upgrade to their starting rotation. The Rangers have said no thus far, but as things get closer to the trade deadline we'll see if their position changes.
