Orioles optioned RHP Preston Guilmet to Triple-A Norfolk.

Guilmet filled in temporarily for T.J. McFarland, who was on the bereavement list. Guilmet has been riding the Baltimore-to-Norfolk train all year, and will continue to do so as needed.

Orioles reinstated LHP T.J. McFarland from the bereavement list.

McFarland got the past few days off to mourn his grandmother's death. He rejoins a bullpen which just added Andrew Miller via trade from Boston.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Tigers have acquired David Price from the Rays.

It's part of a three-team swap that also involves the Mariners, as suggested earlier by Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times. The Rays will get shortstop prospect Nick Franklin from Seattle and left-handed starter Drew Smyly from Detroit. The Mariners get center fielder Austin Jackson. And the Tigers wind up with another ace to add to a rotation that already includes Max Scherzer, Anibal Sanchez, and Justin Verlander.

Red Sox right-handed pitching prospect Anthony Ranaudo will make his major league debut against the Yankees on Friday.

One benefit of blowing up the major league team -- trading pitchers Jon Lester, Jake Peavy, John Lackey, Felix Doubront, and Andrew Miller -- is it allows the Red Sox to give auditions to high-upside prospects like Ranaudo. The right-hander has been outstanding at the Triple-A level over the last two seasons, going 15-5 with a 2.53 ERA across 149-plus innings. He has long-term No. 3 starter upside, and short-term mixed-league flier potential.

According to ESPN Boston's Gordon Edes, shortstop Stephen Drew has been traded to the Yankees.

It's a rare swap between the two bitter rivals. Drew has struggled to the tune of a .176/.255/.328 slash line since returning to the major leagues on June 1, but he plays steady defense at shortstop and there's reason to expect that he'll hit better down the stretch. Kelly Johnson is headed to Boston in a straight one-for-one swap.

The "sense" is that Ben Zobrist will not be traded before Thursday's deadline, the New York Post's Joel Sherman reports.

Tampa Bay is furiously working the phones to consummate a David Price deal, and taking Zobrist off the table with 30 minutes to go until the deadline should simplify the process for them a bit. Since we have nothing else to add, here's some trivia to stump your friends at the bar tonight: Zobrist was acquired from the Astros back in 2006 along with Mitch Talbot for Aubrey Huff. His price tag has gone up in the interim.

According to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times, a three-team trade is being pieced together involving David Price.

Topkin suspects that the Mariners and Tigers are joining the Rays in this deal. Stay tuned for the details.

Indians acquired SS Zach Walters from the Nationals for SS Asdrubal Cabrera.

The 24-year-old infielder, a switch-hitter like Cabrera, batted .234 with three home runs and six RBI across 40 games over the last two seasons in the bigs. No doubt the Indians are intrigued by his minor league numbers. Walters has 45 homers, a .516 slugging percentage, and an .820 OPS across 887 plate appearances over the past three seasons at Triple-A. Those power numbers are nothing to scoff at, even as he never produced anything like them in the low minors. Cleveland will attempt to close the holes in his swing that announce themselves more prominently against lethal major league hurlers.
