Tony Gonzalez (toe) is listed as questionable for Week 16.
Gonzalez continues to be limited in practice by his toe injury, but is fully expected to play despite being listed as questionable. He's a low-end TE1 for Monday night's game at San Francisco.
Darius Johnson (ankle, out) remained sidelined at Saturday's practice.
Johnson has a high-ankle sprain and isn't going to play Monday night in San Francisco. He's a candidate to be placed on season-ending injured reserve.
The Saints can create $11.55 million in salary cap space by releasing DE/OLB Will Smith this offseason.
At the moment, the Saints project to be nearly $17 million over the 2014 cap. Releasing Smith, who is currently on I.R. as he recovers from a torn ACL, will be a no-brainer move. He'll turn 33 years old next summer and doesn't fit Rob Ryan's 3-4 defense, no matter what the Saints were saying in the preseason.
49ers GM Trent Baalke says free agent FB Owen Marecic isn't interested in playing in the NFL.
After losing FB Bruce Miller (shoulder) to injured reserve last week, the 49ers approached Marecic. The 25-year-old declined their offer and seems content with life away from the gridiron. The 49ers signed DL/FB Will Tukuafu.
Packers NT Ryan Pickett says the team hasn't talked with him about the possibility of re-signing.
"No, nobody has said anything," said Pickett. "I've got two more games to show 'em." Pickett has started all 14 games this season but has registered just 16 tackles on 440 defensive snaps. That's quite the drop-off from 2012 when he racked up 51 tackles on similar playing time. Pickett is 34 years old. He wants to re-sign with the Packers, but the team tends to shy away from older players.
Colts promoted OG Thomas Austin from the practice squad.
RB Shaun Draughn was cut in a corresponding move. The Colts have four offensive linemen on the Week 16 injury report, so Austin is needed depth.
Colts waived RB Shaun Draughn.
Draughn was on the roster for four days. With Donald Brown (stinger) ready to rock Sunday against the Chiefs, Draughn was no longer needed. He heads back to the street where he's been for much of the season.
Danny Amendola (groin) is listed as probable for Sunday's game against the Ravens.
Amendola got limited work in during all three practices this week. He should be near 100 percent and popped off for a 10/131/0 line last week -- the first game since Rob Gronkowski's ACL tear. Amendola is a fine WR3 play at Baltimore in fantasy's Super Bowl.
