Coach Bill O'Brien said it's "too early to know" if Brock Osweiler will be the Texans' starting quarterback in 2017.

The Texans handed Osweiler $37 million guaranteed last offseason, and he proceeded to be a total disaster and the main reason the Texans were held back from bigger and better things. His $16 million salary for 2017 is guaranteed, and Osweiler carries a $19 million cap hit. He could count $25 million against the cap if the Texans release or trade him. There just don't seem to be many other avenues for the Texans to travel unless they make a run at Tony Romo.

Coach Dan Quinn said Julio Jones (toe) will be "ready to rock" for the NFC Championship game against the Packers.

Jones re-injured his sprained toe in the Divisional Round win over the Seahawks, playing a season-low 58.3 percent of the snaps. But the Falcons have expressed zero concern about Jones' availability for next Sunday. Expect him to be limited in practice this week before playing next weekend.

Impending free agent CB A.J. Bouye said he wants to re-sign with the Texans.

Bouye, 25, opened the summer as the Texans' No. 4 corner but elevated his play to the point he was Houston's top corner by season's end. He was Pro Football Focus' No. 6 cover corner out of 120 qualifiers, allowing just two touchdowns and breaking up 11 passes. With youth on his side, Bouye is arguably the top impending free agent corner set to hit the market.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the 49ers are "honing in on" Falcons OC Kyle Shanahan for their head-coaching vacancy.

With Josh McDaniels withdrawing his name from the search, it looks like Shanahan or bust for the Niners. Seahawks OL coach Tom Cable is the only other known candidate for the job. The 49ers have sat on their hands and dragged this search process out with the other five vacancies already filled. If they whiff on Shanahan, things could again be a total disaster in Santa Clara.

Chiefs OLB Tamba Hali plans to continue his playing career in 2017.

Hali turned 33 last month but is coming off another strong season. Despite notching just 3.5 sacks, managed 43 total pressures, according to Pro Football Focus and was their No. 13-ranked 3-4 outside linebacker out of 59 qualifiers. He played just seven snaps in the Divisional Round loss to the Steelers, however, and will likely take a back seat to Dee Ford next season.

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports Patriots OC Josh McDaniels is bowing out of consideration for the 49ers' head-coaching vacancy.

According to La Canfora, McDaniels is taking his name out of consideration for "personal" reasons, and it's "not a reflection" on the 49ers. It's probably a little bit of both. With New England advancing this deep into the playoffs, the San Francisco job is the only one left open. McDaniels is better off riding it out another year with Tom Brady and Co. and seeing what next offseason brings. Kyle Shanahan and Tom Cable are the other two known candidates linked to the 49ers.

MMQB's Albert Breer reports ex-Bills assistant Rob Ryan will interview for the Redskins' defensive-coordinator vacancy.

Talk about an underwhelming candidate. Ryan has failed in his last several coaching stops, yet he seems to keep getting jobs. Before being the Bills' assistant head coach last season, Ryan was the DC in New Orleans for three seasons, where the Saints were arguably the worst defense in history in 2015. The Redskins have also interviewed Gus Bradley and Mike Pettine for the job.

Ex-Jaguars OC Greg Olson is interviewing for the Bills' offensive-coordinator vacancy on Monday.

Olson guided Blake Bortles to a monster year in 2015, but the wheels fell off this season and Olson was fired in October. Olson had a tendency to abandon the run game and put too much on Bortles' plate at times. He would be an underwhelming hire in Buffalo. Chiefs co-OC Brad Childress has also been linked to the job. Neither candidate would make Bills fans jump for joy.
