Brandon Phillips returned to action on Saturday April 19.

Apr 20 - 3:32 AM

Jordy Mercer flew out as a pinch-hitter in Saturday's loss to the Brewers.

Mercer was removed from Friday's game after getting spiked in the ankle while trying to turn a double play. He seems likely to be back in the lineup Sunday.
Apr 20 - 3:32 AM

Ike Davis finished 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored Saturday in his Pirates debut.

Davis doubled in his first at-bat, walked in his second at-bat, and singled in his third at-bat. He's expected to start versus right-handers and seems poised to hit near the middle of the Pirates' batting order, making him a worthwhile add in most mixed fantasy leagues. Davis tallied 32 home runs and 90 RBI in 2012 with the Mets.
Apr 19 - 11:50 PM

Joakim Soria earned his third save of the season Saturday in the Rangers' 6-3 victory over the White Sox.

Soria pitched a perfect ninth, retiring Tyler Flowers, Jordan Danks, and Alejandro De Aza in order. He hit a few road bumps earlier this month, but he's back on track now and will try to build on his current job security.
Apr 19 - 11:46 PM

Colby Lewis hurled 5 1/3 innings of one-run ball to lead the Rangers past the White Sox on Saturday.

Lewis struggled in his first start Monday against the Mariners but cruised through Chicago's lineup Saturday, fanning four batters and issuing only one walk. He's still not a good fantasy bet, but the showing was promising for a Rangers team that needs some rotation stability. Lewis pitches at Safeco Field next.
Apr 19 - 11:40 PM

Eric Stults limited the Giants to one run and three hits in six innings Saturday to win for the first time this season.

Stults pounded the strike zone, and the Giants just didn't have much of an answer for him. It was his first quality start in four tries this year and also the first in which he didn't give up a homer. Next up for him is a date with the Nationals.
Apr 19 - 11:35 PM

With Huston Street getting the day off, Joaquin Benoit pitched a perfect ninth for his first save Saturday against the Giants.

Benoit allowed two runs in his second appearance of the year, but he's given up just one hit over six scoreless innings in his other six outings. He should be one of baseball's top setup men for fantasy purposes this year.
Apr 19 - 11:33 PM

Dropped to the sixth spot in the lineup, Jedd Gyorko went 0-for-3 with a strikeout Saturday against the Giants.

Gyorko opened the season batting third and fourth, but he's hitting just .148 in 18 games, necessitating the drop. He's 2-for-18 since landing his five-year, $35 million deal on April 14.
