George Springer has returned to the Astros starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Red Sox.

The dynamic young outfielder was a late scratch from Friday's contest due to discomfort in his right knee. While it sounds like a nagging issue that could remain a problem off and on all season, he felt good enough to give it a go on Saturday. Through 74 games, he's hitting .238/.342/.475 with 19 homers, 50 RBI, five stolen bases and a league-leading 109 strikeouts.

Cubs shortstop prospect Addison Russell went 2-for-5 for the second consecutive night for Double-A Tennessee.

Russell was 0-for-9 over his first two games, but has gone 4-for-10 over his last two games, bringing his Cubs-only line to .211/.211/.211 over four games. Russell is a better shortstop, both now and long-term, than Javier Baez, but the Cubs future infield is beyond crowded, with Arismendy Alcantara, Baez, Kris Bryant, and Russell making the case for three spots, one of which is already in the possession of 22-year old Starlin Castro.

Stephen Drew is not in the Red Sox starting lineup for Saturday's contest against the Astros.

Brock Holt will draw the start in his place at shorstop while Xander Bogaerta covers third base. Drew continues to struggle offensively, slashing just .135/.198/.258 with two homers and five RBI through his first 27 games.

Matt Lindstrom (ankle) threw 30 pitches in a successful bullpen session on Saturday.

The veteran right-hander is finally making progress in his recovery since undergoing ankle surgery in May. He will throw another bullpen session over the All-Star break, and if all continues to go well, he could be cleared for a minor league rehab assignment at some point next two weeks.

Angels right-handed pitching prospect Cam Bedrosian struck out all three batters he faced for Double-A Arkansas on Friday.

After a brief but solid second stint with the Angels, Bedrosian returned to the Texas League to strike out all three batters he faced in one inning, two swinging and one looking, on just 16 pitches, 11 of which were strikes. Bedrosian has the stuff and the bloodlines to be a closer (his father, Steve, has 184 saves for his career), and should be back up in the majors before the end of the season.
Jul 12 - 12:16 PM

Rockies outfield prospect David Dahl went 4-for-6 with a double and three RBI for Low-A Asheville on Friday.

Dahl has not hit a home run since June 5, but has 16 doubles and a solid .339/.368/.465 line since then. He is hitting .301/.340/.503 for the season, and has hit nearly identically against lefties (.301/.313/.504) and righties (.301/.355/.502).
Jul 12 - 12:03 PM

Jean Segura is not in the Brewers starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Cardinals.

Segura has been dealing with leg cramps in recent days, so it appears the Brewers are just giving him an extra day to rest. Jeff Bianchi will draw the start at shortstop in his place and bat eighth against opposing hurler Adam Wainwright.
Jul 12 - 12:02 PM

Astros recalled LHP Brett Oberholtzer from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Oberholtzer will join the Astros rotation in place of the injured Collin McHugh, and will take the hill against the Red Sox on Saturday. Over 11 starts with the Astros this season, he owns a 4.66 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 48/17 K/BB ratio over 63 2/3 innings. He makes for an unappealing streaming option in fantasy leagues.
