Wilmer Flores cranked his seventh home run of the season Monday in the Mets' defeat of the Phillies.

And just like that, he is leading all major league shortstops in home runs. Flores was retired in his other three at-bats Monday and is batting just .252 with a .287 on-base percentage for the season, but his pop gives him value at a position where production is scarce.

Orioles pitching prospect Dylan Bundy has been scratched from Tuesday's start at Double-A Bowie due to a sore right shoulder.

It's not clear at this point how serious the ailment is or if he's set to undergo an MRI. Bundy has pitched well this season, posting a 3.68 ERA and 25/5 K/BB ratio over 22 innings.

Chase Utley went 2-for-3 with two RBI in the Phillies' loss to the Mets on Monday afternoon.

Utley hit a two-run single in the top of the third inning and then singled again in the fifth. The veteran second baseman has shown signs of life over the last few weeks, though he's still batting just .183/.261/.303 overall. He does have 21 RBI in 42 games.
May 25 - 4:22 PM

Nolan Arenado finished 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in the Rockies' 5-4 win over the Reds on Monday.

Arenado laced an RBI single in the top of the first inning, reached on an infield single in the top of the second, slugged a solo home run in the top of the fourth, and then drove in the go-ahead run for the Rockies with a sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth. Arenado also had a huge day on Sunday against the Giants and is emerging out of his mid-May slump with bang after bang.

Eddie Butler surrendered four earned runs in six innings Monday in a no-decision against the Reds.

Todd Frazier got him with a two-run homer in the bottom of the first and then Billy Hamilton smacked an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth. Marlon Byrd capped off the scoring for Cincinnati with a solo shot in the sixth. Colorado won it when Nolan Arenado hit a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth. Butler, 24, is 2-5 with a 4.60 ERA, 1.88 WHIP, and 23/27 K/BB ratio in 43 innings this season. He gets the Phillies on the road next time out.
May 25 - 4:14 PM

Jason Marquis allowed four runs -- two earned -- over 5 2/3 innings Monday in the Reds' loss to the Rockies.

Marquis gave up an RBI single to Nolan Arenado in the first inning, a two-run single to DJ LeMahieu in the second, and a solo homer to Arenado in the fourth. It could have been much worse, as Marquis gave up a whopping 10 hits and two walks. He has a brutal 6.46 ERA and 1.65 WHIP in 47 1/3 innings this season.

Asdrubal Cabrera (groin) expects to return Tuesday.

Cabrera is out of the Rays' starting lineup on Monday night against the Mariners after leaving Sunday's game with a groin strain. The strain is of the minor variety.
May 25 - 4:01 PM

J.J. Hardy made an early departure from Monday's game against the Astros due to back tightness.

Hardy looked uncomfortable for much of the afternoon and was finally replaced in the eighth inning by Everth Cabrera. Baltimore is calling Hardy day-to-day for now.
