Dominic Smith is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Diamondbacks.

Smith will sit against southpaw Patrick Corbin. Wilmer Flores will start at first base while Gavin Cecchini will play second.

He's sitting against southpaw Tommy Milone. Adam Rosales will get the start at the hot corner.

Royals optioned C Cam Gallagher to Triple-A Omaha.

He'll head back down to the minors with Salvador Perez coming off the disabled list. Look for Gallagher to return in September.

Royals activated C Salvador Perez from the 10-day disabled list.

Perez ended up missing a little over two weeks with an intercostal strain. His return should provide a boost to the Royals as they attempt to climb in the AL Wild Card race.

Zack Cozart (shin) has returned to the Reds' lineup Tuesday against the Cubs.

Cozart hasn't played since he was hit in the shin area by a pitch during Friday's game. He'll bat second against right-hander John Lackey in his return to action.

Tommy Joseph is back in the Phillies' lineup for the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Marlins.

The struggling Joseph is back in the lineup after sitting the previous two games. He's in the middle of a 5-for-56 slump which has brought his batting line down to .236/.292/.412 on the year.

Joe Panik (concussion) will begin a minor league rehab assignment Tuesday with Triple-A Sacramento.

Panik came down with post-concussion symptoms after he took a hard tag to the head last Sunday, but he's ready to return to game action. Assuming all goes well, it shouldn't be long before he rejoins the Giants.

Jon Jay - OF - Cubs

Jon Jay will start in center field and bat leadoff Tuesday against the Reds.

Albert Almora, Jr. started in center field and batted leadoff on Sunday, but Jay will draw the start against righty Homer Bailey. Meanwhile, Kyle Schwarber is making another start out of the No. 2 spot in the order.
