Twins transferred RHP Tim Wood from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.

Wood has been out all season with a shoulder injury and recently had a setback. There's no timetable for his return.
May 24 - 1:17 PM

Twins purchased the contract of RHP Samuel Deduno from Triple-A Rochester.

He'll get the start on Friday against the Tigers. Deduno was great during the World Baseball Classic before putting up a 2.70 ERA and 17/10 K/BB ratio in 16 2/3 innings over three starts with Rochester. It's possible he could have some AL-only value.
May 24 - 1:15 PM

Danny Duffy (elbow) will begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Northwest Arkansas on Sunday.

He'll throw 60 pitches for the Naturals. Making his way back from Tommy John surgery, Duffy will surely require the full 30 days on his rehab assignment. Assuming the results are there and his arm strength is back, he should be added to the Royals' rotation in late June. The left-hander is worth stashing on the DL if you have the roster space.
May 24 - 11:43 AM

Ryan Mattheus is expected to be sidelined 4-6 weeks with a fractured right hand.

Mattheus won't require surgery, but since the injury is to his pitching hand he can't do a whole lot while out. He'll have to build his arm strength back up once out of his cast.

Blue Jays transferred LHP J.A. Happ from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.

Happ was hoping to make it back by mid-June, but he now won't be eligible to return until early July. The left-hander is coming back from a small fracture behind his left ear as well as a sprained right knee.
May 24 - 11:05 AM

Blue Jays purchased the contract of LHP Sean Nolin from Double-A New Hampshire.

Nolin will make his major league debut on Friday against the Orioles. A sixth-round pick in 2010, he has posted a 1.17 ERA and 16/5 K/BB ratio in 15 1/3 innings this season at the Double-A level. The southpaw is worth a look in deeper AL-only formats.
May 24 - 11:01 AM

Blue Jays placed LHP Darren Oliver on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 19. with a left shoulder strain.

Oliver has been dealing with the ailment for 7-10 and hadn't appeared in a game in nearly a week. He shouldn't be out long, but the Jays have decided to play things safe. Toronto still has two lefties in the bullpen in Aaron Loup and Brett Cecil.
May 24 - 10:59 AM

Nick Tepesch (blister) has been cleared to start Sunday in Seattle.

Tepesch had to be scratched from his last start due to a blister on his right middle finger, but he's fine now. The right-hander holds a 3.98 ERA and 1.33 WHIP over eight starts this season and isn't a bad streaming option for Sunday.
