Tyler Glasnow's troublesome 2017 season continued on Sunday as he allowed five runs on eight hits over five innings in a loss to the Mets.

Glasnow struck out three on the evening and didn't walk a batter. He kept the Mets' offense at bay through the first three innings, but they broke through for a pair in the fourth on a two-run double by Asdrubal Cabrera and tacked on three more the following frame. The rookie hurler now sports a cringe-inducing 6.95 ERA and 1.90 WHIP on the season. He'll hope for better results in a rematch against the Mets in New York on Saturday.

Francisco Liriano racked up seven strikeouts over 4 1/3 innings in his minor league rehab start with Triple-A Buffalo on Sunday.

The veteran left-hander allowed three runs (two earned) on seven hits and a pair of walks, throwing 48 of his 72 pitches for strikes. It's unclear if he'll require an additional rehab start or be cleared to rejoin the Jays' rotation this week.

Twins optioned 1B/DH Kennys Vargas to Triple-A Rochester.

After going hitless in eight plate appearances on Sunday (including four strikeouts), Vargas gets the boot. He was hitting .258/.280/.483 with five homers and 19 RBI in 24 games with the Twins.

Twins placed RHP Justin Haley on the 10-day disabled list with right shoulder soreness.

The Rule 5 pick has logged only 16 1/3 innings in nine appearances with the Twins this season, compiling a 6.06 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 13/5 K/BB ratio. He'll return at some point in June.

Robbie Ross hasn't pitched since being optioned to Triple-A Pawtucket due to elbow inflammation.

The southpaw struggled during his time with the Red Sox and now has been shut down. There's no clear timetable for his return to action.

Ryan Schimpf blasted his 13th home run on Sunday, helping to lead the Padres to a 5-3 victory over the Nationals.

His two-run blast off of Joe Ross put the Padres ahead to stay in the first inning. He finished the afternoon 1-for-5 and is now hitting .163/.294/.442 with 13 bombs and 24 RBI on the season.
May 28 - 9:20 PM

Franchy Cordero tallied the first two hits of his big league career in Sunday's win over the Nationals.

Cordero started in center field on Sunday and hit sixth in the lineup. He's now 2-for-6 in two games at the big league level. Given his combination of power and speed, he's worth a look in NL-only formats as long as he's getting at-bats.
May 28 - 9:18 PM

Chase d'Arnaud went 2-for-4 and drove in two runs on Sunday as the Padres topped the Nationals.

Drawing a start at shortstop in this one, d'Arnaud delivered a two-run single in the fifth inning that increased the Padres' advantage to 5-2. He's now hitting .350/.409/.400 in his limited action this season.
