Francisco Rodriguez took the loss Friday against the Mets after blowing his fourth save of the season.

Rodriguez took over in the top of the ninth inning with a 2-0 lead, but he gave up a leadoff double to Daniel Murphy before David Wright followed with an RBI single and Lucas Duda put the Mets in front with a two-run homer. He has now allowed six runs over seven innings of work this month, with his ERA jumping from 2.34 to 3.10 in the process.

Zack Wheeler allowed two runs (one earned) over 6 2/3 innings in a no-decision against the Brewers on Friday.

Wheeler was bailed out by a ninth-inning rally, but he deserved a better fate anyway, as an error by Daniel Murphy got the Brewers on the board in the sixth. He held the Brewers to just three hits (including a solo homer from Carlos Gomez) and two walks while striking out nine batters. The young right-hander has really begun to hit his stride of late, allowing just one earned run in each of his last five starts. He'll carry a 3.64 ERA into a start against the Phillies next week.

Yovani Gallardo tossed 7 2/3 scoreless innings against the Mets on Friday, but was handed a no-decision.

Tough break for Gallardo, who was dominant. He allowed just four hits (all of them singles) and no walks while fanning eight batters. However, Francisco Rodriguez blew his chance at a win in the ninth. Gallardo is now winless over his last six starts. He'll try to turn that around when he faces the red-hot Rays next week.

Carlos Gomez went 2-for-5 with a solo homer Friday against the Mets.

Gomez now has three straight multi-hit games and is batting .357 (20-for-56) since returning to the leadoff spot earlier this month. The 28-year-old continues to be one of the game's top performers, posting a .307/.371/.512 batting line to go along with 15 home runs, 53 RBI, and 19 stolen bases over 95 games.

Josh Hamilton was removed from Friday's game against the Tigers due to a sore left knee.

The severity of the injury remains unclear at the moment. Expect the Angels to provide an update on his status after the game, though it wouldn't be surprising to see him sit out on Saturday as a precautionary measure.

Twins recalled LHP Logan Darnell from Triple-A Rochester.

He will draw the start on Saturday against the White Sox. The 25-year-old southpaw sports a 3.43 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 73/40 K/BB ratio over 94 1/3 innings at Rochester this season. He should be avoided for fantasy purposes.

Twins optioned INF Jorge Polanco to Double-A New Britain.

The 21-year-old was only with the Twins as emergency infield depth and didn't get an at-bat during his brief stay. Prior to his promotion, he was hitting .291/.364/.415 with six homers, 45 RBI and 10 stolen bases in 94 games at High-A Fort Myers.
Jul 25 - 11:47 PM

Braves optioned INF Tyler Pastornicky to Triple-A Gwinnett.

No word yet on the corresponding roster move from the Braves. Pastornicky will continue to function as organizational infield depth and will be back the next time an injury strikes.
