Rockies RHP prospect Jeff Hoffman scattered three hits and one unearned run Tuesday in a win for Triple-A Albuquerque.

The win halted a four-game losing streak for Hoffman, who has pitched to a 3.95 ERA in 19 starts this year. Hoffman finished the night with seven strikeouts, bringing his season total to 110. That ranks third in the Pacific Coast League behind Nashville's Chris Smith and Oklahoma City right-hander Jharel Cotton. Rockies manager Walt Weiss recently hinted that Hoffman could be close to making his big-league debut. It would be a mild upset if Hoffman isn't among the Rockies' September call-ups.

Ramiro Pena was scratched from the Giants' lineup on Wednesday due to a sore groin.

Pena took a baseball to a bad place on Tuesday night and wasn't feeling so hot during pregame drills on Wednesday. Grant Green will start at second base versus the Reds.

White Sox recalled INF Carlos Sanchez from Triple-A Charlotte.

Sanchez will give the White Sox much-needed infield depth with Brett Lawrie (hamstring) landing on the disabled list. He should see some starts at second base, but there's not much fantasy intrigue here.

White Sox placed INF Brett Lawrie on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 22, with a hamstring strain.

Lawrie suffered the injury last Thursday and wasn't making enough progress on the side. He should be ready in early August. Carlos Sanchez will join the White Sox in a corresponding 25-man roster move.

Nelson Cruz (foot) is out of the Mariners' starting lineup Wednesday against the Pirates.

Cruz left Tuesday's game after fouling a ball off his foot. It's just sore, and he's considered day-to-day. Seth Smith is starting in right field for the M's on Wednesday night at PNC Park in Pittsburgh.

Red Sox SS prospect Jose Sermo blasted three homers Tuesday in a win for High-A Salem.

He drove in four runs as the Red Sox edged Potomac 10-7. It was the first three-homer game by a Salem hitter since 2006. Sermo had homered only twice in 81 at-bats this season prior to Tuesday's explosion. The 25-year-old entered Tuesday's game in a 3-for-30 rut that saw his average dip from .271 to .200. Sermo spent all of last season in independent ball with the Gary SouthShore RailCats and the Frontier Greys.

Taijuan Walker (foot) threw a successful three-inning simulated game on Wednesday.

He'll throw a bullpen session in two days and could then be cleared for a minor league rehab assignment -- possibly as soon as Monday at Triple-A Tacoma. Walker has been on the disabled list since July 5 due to tendinitis in his right foot. He's on track for an early-August activation, assuming no setbacks.

Phillies LHP prospect Ranger Suarez completed a seven-inning no-hitter Tuesday in a win for Short-Season Williamsport.

Suarez retired 20 consecutive batters after allowing a leadoff walk in the first inning. It was Williamsport's first no-hitter since 2013. 47 of the left-hander's 67 pitches went for strikes as Suarez improved to 4-0 on the year. Opponents have hit just .217 against Suarez this year with 26 strikeouts in 143 at-bats. The 20-year-old from Venezuela owns the ninth-lowest ERA in the New York-Penn League this season (2.09).
